Student answer (Band 7.0)
Currently photographers earn a lot from publishing celebrity photos. Therefore, they follow well-known people and capture their moments. This will help some of the brands and destinations such as cafes and hotels to earn public interest. Also, celebrities can influence people with their behavior. While some believe this is a good practice, I believe this is a bad thing because this will harm famous people's privacy and some of them need to follow strict diets to make a good impression.
The majority of well-known clothing and jewellery brands use famous people such as sportsmen, actors and singers to promote their products. Also, some brand new cafes, restaurants and hotels also use this strategy to attract more customers. Therefore, these photographs help them gain more consumers. For example, sports gear brands like Nike and Adidas use famous footballers and cricketers to promote their products. Additionally, photographers are benefiting from this act by earning more social media followers, projects and money. Moreover, famous people's behavior can influence the general public in a positive way.
On the other hand, this practice badly affects the celebrities’ day-to-day lives as this harms their privacy. They cannot even have a peaceful dinner with family without public interference. For instance, Harry Potter actor Daniel, wore the same outfit to avoid photographers while he was shooting his new movie. Further, they need to maintain a good impression on their fans. Thus, they have to follow diets and spend a lot on their clothing and makeup.
In conclusion, recently a number of photographers have followed celebrity stars to capture their daily lives. Although this helps photographers and brands to earn more and influence the public, this will affect the famous people's lives in a negative way. Hence, I believe it is wrong to follow famous people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—the benefits of photographing celebrities for branding and public interest, and the drawbacks concerning privacy and personal pressure—while clearly stating a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of sportswear brands like Nike and Adidas, and the reference to actor Daniel. The position is maintained consistently throughout the essay, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task requirements. However, some arguments, such as how celebrities influence the general public, could have been elaborated further to reach the higher band levels. Overall, the task is fully addressed with well-supported, relevant ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: the introduction outlines the background and writer's stance, the second body paragraph discusses the advantages, the third body paragraph explores the disadvantages regarding privacy and lifestyle, and the conclusion neatly summarises the main points. Cohesive devices such as 'Therefore', 'Additionally', 'On the other hand', and 'For instance' are used to connect ideas, although referencing is occasionally a bit repetitive at the sentence level. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, ensuring the reader can follow the arguments easily from start to finish without confusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'public interference', 'prominently', and 'promote their products'. Collocations are generally natural, as seen in phrases like 'earn public interest' and 'day-to-day lives'. While there are occasional minor inaccuracies in word choice or stylistic appropriateness—such as 'famous celebrity stars' being slightly tautological—these do not impede communication. Spelling and word formation are generally accurate throughout the essay, showing a comfortable control of vocabulary suitable for a solid upper-intermediate level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The response features a good mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over clause structures and appropriate use of subordination ('While some believe this is a good practice, I believe...'). There are frequent error-free sentences, and punctuation is generally handled well. Minor grammatical inaccuracies occur occasionally, such as 'famous people's behavior can influence' versus plural agreement nuances, but these errors do not impede communication. Overall, the grammatical control reflects a solid Band 7 performance, with successful execution of varied sentence structures.
