Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the benefits of professional photographers capturing celebrities and the arguments against this practice—while also providing a concluding stance. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are extended, particularly in the second paragraph regarding social media and high-class events. However, the development in the counter-argument paragraph is somewhat limited and misinterprets the prompt slightly by framing the debate around celebrities hiring photographers rather than paparazzi or professional photographers following them without direct invitation. For instance, the student states 'some believe they hire photographer in other to show off', which diverges slightly from the core prompt about photographers following famous people everywhere. Despite this minor misdirection in one body paragraph, the task is addressed adequately overall, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors where relevant ideas are presented and a position is maintained.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help structure the essay. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'this can only be achieve by a professional' lacks smooth integration, and there are mechanical errors in punctuation and referencing throughout. Additionally, the progression of ideas in the third paragraph feels a bit abrupt and repetitive, with phrases like 'Following them might not be necessary' echoing previous points. These limitations place the essay securely in Band 6, where organization is generally clear despite mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'professional photographers', 'social media platforms', and 'financial burden'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Examples include lowercase letters for pronouns and sentence beginnings ('in this discussion, i will discuss', 'it will strenghten'), grammatical slips like 'achieve' instead of 'achieved', 'ceremoney' instead of 'ceremony', 'ehance' instead of 'enhance', and 'ocassions' instead of 'occasions'. Furthermore, the phrase 'feel among' is an inappropriate collocation in standard English. These inaccuracies do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a solid Band 5.5, reflecting an adequate range with frequent lexical and spelling slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting complex structures with subordinate clauses like 'because this will enable them to capture neat and beautiful photographs' and 'when a celebrity is invited to a ceremoney'. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent errors, including missing capitalization at the beginning of sentences and for the pronoun 'I', subject-verb agreement issues ('this depend on individual paspectives'), and incorrect verb forms ('can only be achieve'). Punctuation is also neglected, notably with run-on ideas and sentence fragments in the second body paragraph ('For instance, when a celebrity is invited to a ceremoney like premieres, fashion shows and all other events. They will want to dress elegant...'). These frequent errors can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar score at Band 5.0.
