Student answer (Band 7.0)
These days, most celebrities are constantly followed and photographed by professional photographers. This is mainly because the society is not only interested but also, enjoys learning about their lives, However, others think it’s wrong to track famous people everywhere they go. This essay will look at both sides and share my opinion.
On the one hand, many people feel that taking photos of celebrities is a normal part of being famous. Actors, singers, and sports stars make a lot of money and rely on public attention to stay popular. When fans see pictures of celebrities in magazines or online, it helps them stay connected to their favorite stars. From this point of view, being followed by photographers is simply a trade-off for fame and success.
On the other hand, many people argue that photographers cross the line and ruin the lives of famous people. Being followed every day can cause a lot of stress, fear, and sadness. Paparazzi often chase celebrities in cars or surround them on the street, which can be very dangerous for everyone involved. Even though famous people choose public careers, they are still human beings who deserve privacy when spending time with family or taking care of personal matters.
In my opinion, photographers should not follow famous people in their private lives. It is fine to take photos during public events, movies, and concerts. However, when celebrities are at home or enjoying their free time, photographers should leave them alone and respect their privacy.
In conclusion, while the public enjoys seeing photos of famous people, constantly following them is wrong. Everyone, including celebrities, needs a safe space away from cameras and attention.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The student addresses all parts of the task fully, discussing both views regarding paparazzi and providing a clear personal opinion. In the introduction, the writer outlines the essay structure. Body paragraph one explores the argument that celebrities trade privacy for fame and money, while body paragraph two examines the counter-argument concerning stress, safety, and basic human rights. The conclusion and the writer's stance in the fourth paragraph ('photographers should not follow famous people in their private lives') present a well-developed position throughout the essay. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples like cars and streets, making the response fit comfortably within the Band 7 criteria for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response demonstrates a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Information and ideas are presented coherently, with each paragraph having a distinct central topic. The student makes effective use of cohesive devices to guide the reader through the arguments, utilizing standard phrases such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'In my opinion', and 'In conclusion'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, the opinion paragraph, and the conclusion logically. Referencing is clear and appropriate, earning a solid Band 7 for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, using appropriate terms related to the prompt such as 'celebrities', 'professional photographers', 'public attention', 'trade-off', 'paparazzi', and 'respect their privacy'. While the vocabulary is mostly standard and clear, the student attempts some less common lexical items with general accuracy. There are minor phrasing issues, such as 'because the society is not only interested', where the definite article is unnecessary. However, the lexical resource is fully adequate to convey precise meaning without impeding communication, matching the Band 6.5 to 7 profile, solidifying a Band 7.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The writer displays a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and subordinate clauses like 'When fans see pictures of celebrities in magazines or online, it helps them stay connected' and 'Even though famous people choose public careers, they are still human beings'. There is good control of grammar and punctuation overall. A frequent number of sentences are error-free, though a few minor errors exist, such as the comma splice in the introduction ('lives, However') and the article error ('the society'). These minor slips do not impede communication, placing the response securely in Band 7.
