Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, people find it interesting to know about how famous people walk, live, and do their day to day activities. Photographers plays an important role in this, they shows us their outfits, daily routine and many more. Some individuals agree with this practice but others think that they should not follow celebrities everywhere they go.

On the one hand, some individuals try to copy the lifestyle of famous people and that’s why they follow them and their photographers as well on many public sites. The photos that are clicked by professionals have more details about their outfit, their jewelry and footwear. For instance, when a famous person goes for gym, paparazzi chase them and asks them some questions about their diet and workout routine. This gives some information to other public as well. Sometimes, they attend some weddings, religious festivals and other occasions and their pictures have a detailed description about the price of clothing, jewelry and style. So, people who likes it, they just follow same thing.

On the other hand, sometimes people hate this thing because they think paparazzi don’t let them enjoying their life. Photographers chase them to their gym location, their working locations which creates more risk to the lives of famous people. Sometimes, they are enjoying their moments, and by clicking awkward pictures, it leaves a negative impression on the public.

In my opinion, celebrities have a right to enjoy their freedom and people and photographers must not chase them everywhere. When they get ready for some functions and when photographers are invited, then they should click their pictures. If they are zooming in their homes, working places, and other locations, then there should be a fine on them.

In conclusion, there must be a rule on photography of famous people because sometimes one picture can cause a life threat as well. Everyone should respect their privacy and lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on paparazzi and celebrity photography and clearly stating a personal opinion in the body and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as discussing how people copy outfits or how famous individuals face safety risks and privacy invasions. However, some ideas lack full extension and tend to be slightly repetitive, particularly when describing what photographers capture at gyms or events. Despite these minor limitations, the main arguments are well-supported with everyday examples, aligning comfortably with a Band 6.5 or Band 7 descriptor. Overall, the prompt requirements are adequately fulfilled with a clear stance maintained throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraphing structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, a personal opinion paragraph, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the argumentation. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as using 'they' ambiguously in sentences like 'they shows us their outfits' or 'when a famous person goes for gym, paparazzi chase them and asks them'. Paragraph transitions are functional, but the progression could be smoother. This level of organisation and logical sequencing fits the Band 6.5 to 7 range cleanly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, including terms like 'paparazzi', 'routine', 'impression', and 'privacy'. There are attempts to incorporate less common vocabulary and collocations, such as 'detailed description', 'life threat', and 'workout routine'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'goes for gym' instead of 'goes to the gym', 'fine on them' instead of 'fines imposed on them', and grammatical slips in word forms like 'Photographers plays' and 'they shows'. Spelling is generally good, but the lexical errors prevent the score from reaching higher tiers. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditionals ('If they are zooming in... then there should be a fine') and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Photographers plays', 'photographers... asks them', 'everyone should respect') and preposition usage (e.g., 'goes for gym'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while these errors are noticeable and occur regularly, they rarely impede communication or obscure the writer's meaning. This performance matches the standard profile for Band 6.
