Student answer (Band 6.0)
Recently, popular individuals have been captured by professional media wherever they go, leading to contrasting views. Some people believe that because the public is interested in their lives, this is a good thing; others argue that photographers are wrong to follow famous people. This essay will discuss both perspectives and explain why I believe that following every time does not appropriate.
Those who support capturing are a good habit argue that it satisfies curiosity about celebrities' lifestyles, relationships, fashion, and activities. One clear example is that nowadays audiences are excited about Mr. Faizu's marriage and want to know about his wife. Supporters further claim that photographs help famous people to promote their movies, music, products, or business, which reinforces the idea that it is the best way to connect with them.
On the other hand, proponents of photographs are wrong to believe that famous people also deserve a private life when they are with family or friends. For instance, Adnan Shaikh, who doesn't want to reveal her wife's face. Moreover, they claim that photographers may take pictures out of context and create false stories, such as I heard in one podcast where Varun Dhawan was talking about his video, which was planned, but people thought it was the wrong way.
To conclude, although it is an entertainment part of the world, it has merit; privacy appears more compelling. Given the reason outlined above, I firmly believe that everyone should respect their personal life and not capture it every time without their permission.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
First, it is important to note that the response contains 244 words, falling slightly short of the minimum 250-word requirement (with 8 words copied from the prompt excluded), which negatively impacts the score. Regarding task content, the essay addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and presenting a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the arguments supporting paparazzi are introduced, examples like Mr. Faizu are quite limited and under-developed. Similarly, the counterarguments mentioning Adnan Shaikh and Varun Dhawan lack adequate elaboration to fully explore the complexities of media intrusion. The position is generally clear by the end, but the reasoning remains basic, pulling the task response down to this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that addresses the prompt logically. The introduction outlines the two perspectives and the writer's stance, while the body paragraphs separate the supporting and opposing views effectively. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'On the other hand' and 'To conclude', and referencing is generally understandable. However, cohesion can feel somewhat mechanical and repetitive in places (for instance, the heavy reliance on phrases like 'Some people believe' and 'they claim'). Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, reflecting the structural requirements of a standard essay, which safely places this aspect in the band six range with a leaning towards higher coherence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'contrasting views', 'prominent individuals', and 'out of context'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the response. Examples include 'capturing are a good habit' instead of photographing, and awkward phrasing like 'following every time does not appropriate'. There are also minor awkward collocations such as 'an entertainment part of the world'. These vocabulary and word choice errors occur with some frequency, but they do not seriously impede communication, allowing the reader to grasp the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and subordinate clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction. Examples include 'does not appropriate' instead of is not appropriate, 'proponents of photographs are wrong' instead of proponents of the view that, and missing articles or incorrect pronouns ('reveal her wife's face' instead of his). While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are common enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and show inconsistent control over complex grammatical structures.
