Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays it is very common to see the paparazi after every celebrity. They capture every moment of the famous people's life from what they wear to what happens in their life. It is not always that they follow, sometimes they're called by known personalities to cover their grand entries and attires.

Many individuals are interested to see how their favorite personalities are doing in their real life. People often like to follow them on social media and track them on other platforms. This motivates the celebrities to get photographed and become more famous among the fans. Additionally, there are group of people who follows these photographers just to keep eye on their favorite celebrity's daily life.

On the other hand, there are some people who think that the paparazi's are covering things beyond the limit. They feel that all these glamour and show-off are fake. However, some of them see it from different perspective. They feel that it is not good to run after every car and take photographs as it spoils someone's privacy.

In my opinion, the excitement is real, to see what these famous and rich people do in their day to day life but I think it is good to follow them and capture their moments only until they allow. It is not okay to follow every celebrity at every venue. This happened ample of time, when photographers tried to click certain celebrity when he/she were not comfortable to get photographed. So, everyone's privacy should be respected. Otherwise, this can provoke them to act in unnecessary behaviour.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the positive and negative views of photographing celebrities, and provides a clear personal opinion in the final paragraph. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the notion that celebrities sometimes call photographers to cover their events is introduced in the first paragraph but remains somewhat under-developed, while the discussion on privacy in the final paragraph is expanded with more detail. To reach a higher level, all main ideas should be equally extended and supported throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introducing the topic, examining the public interest, exploring the opposing view, and concluding with the writer's perspective. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate each distinct argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the transition 'Additionally, there are group of people' where the article is missing, and referencing is not always completely clear. To improve, cohesive devices should be used more flexibly and smoothly without attracting attention.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating points about celebrity culture and privacy. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'grand entries', 'attires', and 'perspective', but these are accompanied by noticeable word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'paparazi' instead of 'paparazzi' and 'ample of time' instead of 'ample time'. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the score because they show limited precision and control over less common lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional clauses and relative clauses. However, there are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as article omissions ('the paparazi after every celebrity', 'there are group of people'), preposition misuses, and punctuation slips. Although these errors rarely impede communication and the basic meaning remains clear, the presence of frequent minor mistakes prevents the essay from achieving a higher band.
