Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, the topic of whether celebrities should be followed and photographed has become a strongly debated topic. A number of individuals claim that it is perfectly fine to do so as there is a general public interest in popular personalities' lives, while skeptics argue against it. This essay shall look into both perspectives, however, I personally side with the latter view. A number of arguments surround my opinion.

Analysis of the former group reveals that there are mainly two reasons behind the filming of celebrities. The first reason is that public follows the footsteps of popular personalities in their lives. For example, general public trends are widely influenced by the lives of celebrities , such as fashion and life-style. Professional photographers chase them to capture their outfits and body shapes owing to people follows the same fashion to stay in limelight. Furthermore, photography is a profession which can generate higher revenue by highlighting the public figures' lives. As a result of this, photographers follow and capture Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities wherever they go.

On the other hand, there are also many counterarguments to photographing famous figures. First of all, the opponents assert that it is the clear violation of their basic human rights. For instance, photographers breach the privacy of celebrities' personal lives by filming them without their consents. This mean that they cannot enjoy their personal times with their families and friends on public places in fear of constant attention of photographers. Moreover, it also impact their mental well-being as it increases the chances of hate crimes by people who do not like them. To cite an example, famous Bollywood actress Deepika went into depression after got trolled on social media for her pregnancy clips by paparazzies that stand as an epitome.

In conclusion, there are clearly arguments both for and against the filming of public figures. While some feel that photographers are doing good job by capturing the celebrities' personal moments, others argue that it is the absolute breach of their fundamental human right-privacy. In my opinion, photographers should know their boundaries and work accordingly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and make your own position clear: you explain public interest and photographers’ commercial motives, then argue that following celebrities violates their privacy. The examples about fashion and Deepika help make the discussion relevant. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the first view is explained mainly through fashion influence and photographers’ revenue, while the second includes more specific consequences. The claim that paparazzi attention increases the chances of hate crimes is not fully explained, and the Deepika example focuses on online trolling rather than photographers following her. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a clearer link to the question and use examples that directly illustrate the effects of being pursued by photographers.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present opposing views, and the conclusion restates your opinion. The progression from “The first reason” to “Furthermore,” and then “On the other hand” makes the discussion easy to follow. Paragraphing is appropriate, and the reader can distinguish the two sides. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, particularly the repeated use of “For example” and “As a result of this.” The phrase “A number of arguments surround my opinion” does not clearly preview the discussion, and “This mean” leaves the reference to the preceding point less smooth. Use more precise links that show cause, contrast, or consequence, and make references between sentences explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “public interest,” “privacy,” “mental well-being,” and “fundamental human right.” Phrases such as “breach the privacy” and “professional photographers” show an attempt to use more formal language. Some less common choices are not fully natural or precise: “follow the footsteps” is not the usual expression here, “stay in limelight” is awkward, and “filming” is used when the essay is mainly about taking photographs. There are also word-form and spelling slips, including “paparazzies.” Aim for accurate collocations and distinguish clearly between photographing, filming, and pursuing someone. More precise vocabulary would make your arguments sound more fluent and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the contrast clause “While some feel …, others argue …” and the reason clause “as there is a general public interest.” Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “public follows” needs an article or plural subject, “This mean” should be “This means,” and “it also impact” should be “it also impacts.” The phrase “after got trolled” needs a complete verb construction, such as “after she was trolled.” There are also errors in possessives and articles, as in “without their consents” and “doing good job.” Review subject–verb agreement, verb forms after prepositions, and article use. Greater accuracy across these patterns would improve control while retaining your sentence variety.
