Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response recognises the topic and offers a general view that a balance is needed, but it only partially answers the question. The first body paragraph discusses how people copy celebrities’ hairstyles and clothing; it does not clearly explain why public interest in celebrities’ lives makes photographers’ work beneficial. The second paragraph mentions that following people is “not good,” but does not develop the opposing view about photographers pursuing famous people or explain the effects on privacy and safety. The conclusion’s call to “maintain the balance” is also too vague to establish a clear, consistent opinion. To strengthen the response, explain both viewpoints directly, state your position clearly, and support each main point with a relevant example and explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and it uses signposts such as “On major aspect,” “Another important consideration” and “In conclusion.” These features give the reader a basic sense of structure. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak: the first moves from public interest to copying celebrity styles without clearly connecting this to the benefits of photography, while the second shifts between criticism, general claims and an unclear comparison. Several linking phrases, including “From a broader perspective” and “Nevertheless,” do not show a precise relationship between ideas. Referencing such as “this factor” and “this development” is also unclear. Organise each paragraph around one side of the debate and use links that explicitly show cause, contrast or example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “professional photographers,” “social media,” “lifestyle,” “trend” and “positive and negative implications.” It also attempts more formal expressions such as “considerable attention” and “long-term effects.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “people are follow the famous personality lifestyle,” “fallows the famous actors life style,” and “bring the change in the societies.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “outtcome” and “there” for “their” also reduce precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for the topic, especially for privacy, public interest and media coverage, and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to use both simple and complex structures, including a concession in “While this issue has attracted considerable attention” and a conditional clause in “when is issue is not properly addressed.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. For example, “In this essay will examine” lacks a subject, while “people are follow” has an incorrect verb form. Agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “Some people argue that this development is beneficial, other believes it create additional challenges.” The opening sentence is a long, poorly controlled chain of clauses, and punctuation does not consistently separate ideas. Practise building shorter accurate sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed subordinate clauses.
