Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify both sides of the issue: public interest in celebrities’ lives and the possibility that photographers can have a harmful influence. However, the discussion is only partial and the response does not give a clear personal opinion, as the task requires. The point about photographers helping clients post attractive images is relevant, but it does not fully explain why the public’s interest makes following celebrities a good thing. The concern about “pornographic photos” is also introduced without explaining how it relates to photographers following famous people. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough development, reasoning, or relevant example to address the task adequately. State your view directly and support each side with specific explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic attempt at organising the discussion: the opening introduces the topic, followed by paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the another hand.” These signposts help the reader recognise the two viewpoints. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because ideas are brief and connections are not always clear. For example, the link between photographers posting images and people being “interested of how they influenced them” is unclear. The final paragraph also ends mid-idea, leaving the discussion unfinished. Develop one main point at a time, explain how it supports the viewpoint, and use clear references and transitions rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “professional photographers,” “celebrities,” “social media,” and “influence,” so the subject is generally recognisable. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “elegant” and “contribution.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make meaning harder to understand: “have their own jobs on celebrities,” “passionable,” and “watching out with their post.” Some word forms and collocations are also unsuitable, such as “Actors and actress” and “interested of.” Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “photograph celebrities,” “share images online,” and “take an interest in their private lives.” This would make your ideas clearer and more appropriate for an IELTS discussion essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the contrast between viewpoints is signalled with phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the another hand.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “many professional photographers have their own jobs on celebrities” has an unclear sentence structure, while “many people are always watching out with their post” contains problems with the verb pattern and reference. In “some people thinking of photographers,” the clause lacks a correctly formed verb. There are also agreement and article errors, as in “photographers really contributes” and “the another hand.” Practise complete clauses, subject–verb agreement, and accurate sentence boundaries before attempting longer structures.
