Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many famous people are followed by professional photographers everywhere they go. Some people believe that it is a good idea because many people want to know about their lifestyle. While others think that photographers should not follow public figures to click their photographs. In this essay, I will discuss both these views and give my opinion.

On the one hand, professional photographers follow famous people to get attention of the public. Most of the famous people have lots of followers on social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and etc. People can see their art of taking pictures through social media. As a result, they may get some some orders of photography in special occasions such as weddings, ring ceremony, birthday parties and etc. It is a good way to promote their work and make good amount of money by following public figures. For example, one famous company called "J&J studios" was not earning enough at an initial stage, but after they started following famous people their yearly revenue reached to 20 million.

On the other hand, some people think that photographers are wrong to follow famous people because most of the time public figures are surrounded by cameras, so they also need some privacy in their life whenever they are spending time with their families. Sometimes they also want to live ordinary life like other people by walking on the streets, go for a movie with their friends or family and etc. For instance, famous people may suffer from loneliness because they feel pressured and not able to enjoy their life by going to public places, if they surrounded by media reporters all the time.

In my opinion, famous people plays an essential role to generate revenue for the proffesional photographers. However, in some circumstances they may need privacy and not want to followed by photographers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give an opinion, so the response addresses the main parts of the task. The paragraph about privacy is relevant and includes examples of ordinary activities and the possible effect of constant media attention. However, the first view is not fully focused on why the public’s interest makes photographing celebrities a good thing: the explanation shifts to photographers gaining followers, clients and revenue. The example of “J&J studios” supports that business point, but its connection to public interest is not made clear. Your opinion is also brief and somewhat qualified rather than fully explained. Develop the reasons behind each view more directly and state clearly when, in your view, photographing public figures is acceptable or intrusive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a concluding opinion. This makes the two perspectives easy to identify. The examples are generally placed alongside the point they illustrate. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening “While others think…” is a sentence fragment, and “As a result” links social-media followers to photographers’ business success without fully explaining the steps between them. Repeated use of “and etc.” also weakens the flow. To improve, make each paragraph’s central claim explicit, connect supporting details with precise cause-and-effect reasoning, and ensure the conclusion follows clearly from the discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “professional photographers,” “public figures,” “privacy,” “social media,” and “revenue.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “surrounded by cameras” and “yearly revenue.” However, the range is limited by repetition of “famous people,” “follow,” and “people,” while several choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal: “get attention of the public,” “some orders of photography,” and “ring ceremony.” Spelling errors such as “proffesional” are noticeable. These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for public interest, media coverage, privacy, and commercial benefits, and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex forms, including a contrast with “because” and a conditional idea in “if they surrounded by media reporters.” However, control is inconsistent, and several errors occur in basic sentence structures as well as in more complex attempts. For example, “While others think…” is a fragment; “famous people plays” has subject–verb disagreement; and “not want to followed” has an incorrect verb form. The sentence about people “walking on the streets, go for a movie” also lacks parallel structure. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships less clear. Practise complete sentences, agreement, verb patterns after “want,” and parallel lists, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
