Student answer (Band 7.0)

In today's society, celebrities are frequently photographed by professional photographers wherever they go. While some people believe that this practice is justified because public is intrested in celebrities' personal lives, others argue that it violets their privacy. In my opinion, although the celebrity photography can be acceptable in public settings, constantly following famous people is an invasion of their privacy.

One of the mian reasons why people suppoort this practice is that celebrities attract considerable public attention. Fans are often intrested in the lifestyles, relationships and daily activities of famous actors, singers and athletes. As a result, photographs of this individuals are widely published in newspapers, magazines, and online platforms. Furthermore, celebrity photography helps media oraganisations attract audiences and generate revenue through advertising. For example, photographs of well-known actor attending a film premiere may intrests fans and provide entertainment for the public. Therfore, supporters argue that photographing celebrities is a legitimate part of the entertainment industry, provided that it is carried out respectfully.

On the one hand, many people believe that constantly following celebrities is unacceptable because it deprives them of their privacy. Although famous individuals may choose to live in the public eye, this does not means that they should be photographed at every moment of their lives. persistant attention of pohotgraphs can cause stress, damage perosnal relationships and make ordinary activities difficult. Moreover, aggressive attempts to capture photographs can sometimes create dangerous situation for celebrities, photographers and members of the public. For instace, a celebrity who is followed while shopping with their children may feel uncomfortable and unable to enjoy a normal family outing. For these reasons, I believe paparazzi should respect perosnal boundaries and avoid intrusive behaviour.

In conclusion, photographing celebrities can satisfy public curiosity and provie financial benefits for media organisations. Nevertheless, I believe that these advantages do not justify constantly following famous people or interfering with their private lives. Photographers should be allowed to capture appropriate public events while respecting celebrities' right to privacy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The response addresses both views and maintains a clear position: celebrity photography may be acceptable at public events, but persistent pursuit invades privacy. Both sides are supported with relevant reasons, including media revenue and the stress and safety risks of intrusive photography. The examples—a film premiere and a family shopping trip—make the discussion concrete. This fits a strong response that covers the task and extends its ideas. To develop the argument further, explain more precisely where the boundary lies between legitimate public-interest photography and intrusion; the distinction is stated, but not fully explored. The claim that photographs provide entertainment is also less developed than the privacy argument. Overall, the position is consistent and the task is fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5

The essay has a clear four-paragraph structure, moving from the introduction to the case for celebrity photography, then the opposing view, and finally a conclusion that restates the writer’s position. Ideas progress logically within paragraphs, and linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Furthermore,” and “Nevertheless” help show relationships between points. The contrast in the introduction and conclusion also gives the response a coherent overall shape. To make cohesion more flexible, avoid relying mainly on familiar signposts and use clearer links between some claims and their consequences. For example, the transition “On the one hand” introduces the privacy argument, but “On the other hand” would more explicitly connect it to the preceding view. Overall, organisation is clear and effective.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for discussing the topic, with useful phrases such as “public attention,” “generate revenue,” “invasion of their privacy,” and “personal boundaries.” These choices allow the writer to express both sides and convey a clear stance. There are also attempts at more specific language, including “aggressive attempts” and “intrusive behaviour,” though some wording is inaccurate or awkward. Spelling errors such as “intrested,” “violets,” “oraganisations,” and “persistant” are noticeable, and phrases such as “photographs of this individuals” and “photographs of well-known actor” show imprecise word forms or article use. These do not prevent understanding, but more careful proofreading and more natural collocations would improve precision and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concessive opening (“While some people believe…”) and a conditional clause (“provided that it is carried out respectfully”). Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the argument remains easy to follow. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “this does not means,” the verb should be “mean”; “photographs of this individuals” needs plural agreement (“these individuals”); and “a celebrity who is followed while shopping with their children” contains a potentially unclear pronoun reference. There are also sentence-initial lowercase forms, such as “persistant attention” and “pers…,” which require capitalisation. Greater consistency in agreement, articles, and sentence-level proofreading would help the writer use complex forms more accurately.
