Student answer (Band 5.5)

From the past few years, this trend becomes common to take photos on every occasion because people want to make memories. Some people believe that professional photographers capture popular personalities, as the public are interested in seeing them and it is a good thing. While few populations think that photographers should also follow some normal persons. I believe that both opinions are equally right because it depends on the viewers choice.

On the one hand, currently famous people are photographed by expert cameramen everywhere they travel, because most of the generation are interested in their lives, they want to follow them, and feel happy while seeing their diverse activities on social media. It is an era of digital world and everyone feel free to post anything on social media platforms. In addition, people become emotionally attach to influencers and want to follow them in all aspects. For instance, youngsters get too much involve in their activities and want to do same in their own actual lives.

One the other hand, some individuals think that photographers should also try to cover some common celebrities, and also give attention to current affairs of the area rather than just following famous people. Moreover, it is significant to post about other things and never photograph just famous people because some people are not interested in getting news about them.

In conclusion, I believe that both ideas are necessary but photographers should perform their duties in a well-mannered way, and try to keep the population aware with both entertainment and current social issues of the nation. In this way, people have variety of content to spend their leisure time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both the public’s interest in famous people and the idea that photographers should cover other subjects, and you give a concluding view. However, the response only partially addresses the central contrast: the opposing view is about photographers being wrong to follow famous people, but you recast it as a call to photograph “common celebrities” and report current affairs. Your opinion that “both opinions are equally right” is also not clearly explained, and the conclusion shifts towards photographers balancing entertainment with social issues rather than directly judging whether following celebrities is acceptable. Develop the privacy and consent concerns behind the opposing view, then support a consistent position with a relevant example. This would make the response more complete and its ideas better developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the broad structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from public interest to social media and emotional attachment without showing how these points support the argument about photographers following celebrities. Some linking is mechanical, and “Moreover” introduces a point that largely repeats the previous sentence. The reference to “common celebrities” also makes the opposing view difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim; vary transitions and avoid repeating the same point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “professional photographers,” “social media platforms,” “influencers,” and “current affairs,” which makes the subject clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “emotionally attach” and “diverse activities,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes obscure your meaning. For example, “common celebrities” does not express the intended contrast with famous people, while “keep the population aware with” is an awkward collocation. Word forms also need attention: “emotionally attach” should be “emotionally attached.” Aim for precise phrases related to privacy, public interest, and media coverage, and check collocations rather than relying on broad or approximate wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because” and “while,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences that join several ideas. For example, “because most of the generation are interested in their lives, they want to follow them, and feel happy” has unclear reference and faulty sentence structure. There are also recurring agreement and verb-form errors, such as “this trend becomes common,” “everyone feel,” and “people become emotionally attach.” Articles and possessives are sometimes missing or incorrect, as in “viewers choice.” Practise building one clear main clause at a time, then add subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries during revision.
