Student answer (Band 5.0)

These days professional photographer follow famous poeple everywhere they go. Other people say this is a good thing because the public are interested in their lives, and some people think that this is wrong to follow celebrities. It is completely wrong to follow a person, because famous people needs space too, to do their own thing without people watching them.

The people who follows other people are very creepy because they are trying to step into the bounderies of other people without their permission, they are violating other people's lives by taking picture even in their private moments. This kind of work is unethical because they are disrespecting a celebrities who just want to have a nice day without cameras and people watching them. Celebrities need some rest days too like a normal people. This is not a good thing to do even though people are interested in their lives. They should have some space to have some fun and be themselves. We should treat celebrities like a normal people when they are not on stage, studio, etc. We just have to let them be.

One of the best example of this is the hollywood stars like Justine Bieber, the Kardashians, and Micheal Jackson. The professional photographers have been taking pictures of the famous hollywood stars for years, and some celebrities are very furious with this so called "professional photographers". Even Tobey Maguire who played the Spider-man in 2000s shows his frustration when the photographers blocked his way when he was driving his car outside of a building.

In conclusion celebrities should have a private space where they can rest and to have a nice day without people taking picture of them, because we have to respect their space and we don't question their bounderies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

Your position is clear: you believe photographers should not follow celebrities, and you give relevant reasons, including intrusion into private moments and the need for rest. The examples of Justin Bieber, the Kardashians, Michael Jackson and Tobey Maguire also support your view. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the argument that the public is interested in celebrities’ lives is only briefly acknowledged; you do not explain why some people consider this a positive thing. Your response therefore addresses the task only partially, with ideas that remain limited or under-developed. To strengthen it, explain the public-interest argument fairly, then compare it with your concerns about privacy and develop your examples more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining your objection, an example paragraph and a conclusion. The main position is easy to identify, and phrases such as “In conclusion” help signal the ending. However, progression is limited because the body paragraphs largely repeat the same point about celebrities needing privacy, while the opposing view is not given its own developed place. Linking is also repetitive: “because,” “This,” and “We” recur without always making the relationship between ideas clearer. For example, the list of celebrities leads into a separate Tobey Maguire incident without explaining how the examples build the argument. Grouping reasons more deliberately and using clearer references would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “private moments,” “unethical,” “frustration,” and “respect their space.” These choices show some ability to discuss privacy and media behaviour, rather than relying only on very basic words. However, several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “people watching them,” “nice day,” and “professional photographers,” which is repeated frequently. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “bounderies,” “poeple,” and “furious with this so called photographers.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for more varied terms such as “paparazzi” and “intrude on privacy,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your central argument through mostly straightforward sentences, and you attempt some longer structures, for example, “This is not a good thing to do even though people are interested in their lives.” However, the range of sentence patterns is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make the writing less controlled. Examples include “professional photographer follow,” “famous people needs,” and “The people who follows,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect. Articles and plurals are also problematic in “a celebrities” and “like a normal people.” The final sentence, “where they can rest and to have,” has an inconsistent verb pattern. Practise checking agreement, articles and parallel verb forms, while building more varied but accurate complex sentences.
