Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is clear from the first table that the total individual of City New York changes from 1800 to 2000 and on the other hand the second and third one will going to presents the differences of five districts (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island) over the same tenure.

Overall, city individual is increasing but in districts it is increasing and decreasing due to several factors.

To commence with, it is evident from first table that the population of New York City fluctuate variably throughout the passing years. The complete individual strength in 1800 is not much it is about 79,216 but it increase considerably in 2000 beacuse of massive support behind it. government should gave awareness about it in public so, public must know abot its merit and demerit.

By contarary, the population in districts is decreasing day by day . Now in 2000 it is 19% but in past same it is about 76%. Other districts reprsents the same result but the change is that Manhattan individual is decreasing and other districts is increasing people strength to about 81%.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad contrast between the city’s growth and Manhattan’s declining share, and you include some relevant figures, such as 79,216 in 1800 and Manhattan’s 76% and 19% shares. However, the task is only partly addressed: the overview that the population is “increasing and decreasing” is vague, and the response does not report the key overall figures for 1900 or 2000. It also says the city population “fluctuate[s]” and that district populations are “decreasing day by day,” which misrepresents the data: the city rose at both intervals, while the other districts grew substantially. The claim that growth occurred “because of massive support” is unsupported, and the advice about government awareness is irrelevant. Focus on accurate comparisons and the main trends shown in the tables.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from an introduction and overview to comments on the city and then the districts. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is weak because the paragraphs do not clearly group and compare the main data, and several linking phrases are inaccurate or mechanical. For example, “on the other hand” does not establish a clear contrast in the introduction, while “By contarary” introduces a point that is not accurately explained. References such as “the same result” are unclear, and the final sentence combines Manhattan’s decline with other districts’ growth without a clear comparison. Use a concise overview followed by logically grouped details, with links that show the actual relationship between figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt some task-related vocabulary, including “population,” “districts,” “considerably,” and “percentage,” and you try to vary your phrasing. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. “Total individual” and “complete individual strength” do not naturally mean population, while “passing years” and “massive support behind it” are unsuitable for describing these tables. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “beacuse,” “abot,” “contarary,” and “reprsents.” Aim for precise, conventional language for data reporting, such as “the city’s population,” “rose sharply,” and “accounted for.” Avoid adding expressions that imply causes when the tables provide none.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, including the opening sentence with a clause introduced by “that.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “the second and third one will going to presents,” “it increase considerably,” and “government should gave awareness.” The sentence beginning “Overall” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and punctuation is unreliable, as in “day by day .” Work on accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and build longer sentences from a clear main clause. For example, report that the population “increased” and that Manhattan’s share “fell,” using past-tense forms consistently.
