Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to identify some data points, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the trends. You have not effectively compared the five districts, and the data provided is often inaccurate or poorly presented (e.g., the calculation of percentage growth). To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, provide a clear summary of the main features, and ensure the response meets the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response lacks a logical structure. There is no clear introduction, and the body paragraphs are disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often misused, such as 'First below shows' and 'On the other hand our city brookly'. The paragraphing is ineffective, and the conclusion is abrupt and does not summarize the data effectively. To improve, focus on using transition words to link your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'selcting', 'compaisons', 'revelant', and 'happenned'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'dramatically', 'proportion', and 'significant increase', and practice using them in context to describe trends accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The grammatical range is limited to simple sentence structures, and there are frequent errors in sentence construction, punctuation, and verb tense usage. For example, 'Growth about this city related' is not a complete or grammatically correct sentence. Many sentences lack proper subjects or verbs, making the meaning difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Practice writing complete, error-free sentences before attempting more complex structures.
