The first table below shows changes in the total population of New York City from 1800 to 2000. The second and third tables show changes in the population of the five districts of the city (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island) over the same period.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The tables illustrate changes in the total population of new York city and the population distribute between Manhattan and the other four districts from 1800 to 2000.
Overall, the population of New York City increased dramatically during the period. While Manhattan had the largest share of the population in 1800, the other districts became increasingly dominant by 2000.
In 1800, New York City had a population of only 79,216. Manhattan accounted for 60,515 people, representing 76% of the total, whereas the other districts contained 18,701 people, or 24%. By 1900, the city's population had risen sharply to 3,437,202. Manhattan's population reached 1,850,093, but its share fell to 54%, while the other districts accounted for 46%.
