Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to adequately summarise the data provided. While it mentions the time frame and the city, it fails to report the main features or make meaningful comparisons between the districts. The data presented is inaccurate and confusing, such as the claim that 3,437,202 people lived in the 'USA capital'. Furthermore, the response is under the 150-word minimum requirement, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. The overview is vague and lacks a clear summary of the trends shown in the tables.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used incorrectly or in a mechanical, unnatural way, such as 'In editions' and 'As well as'. The referencing is unclear, and the connection between the sentences is weak, making it difficult for the reader to understand the relationship between the data points provided in the tables.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly. There are significant issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'year base information', 'founded in', and 'grow like rocket'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe statistical trends, relying on repetitive and inaccurate phrasing. Spelling errors, such as 'Ataten Island' and 'whic that', further detract from the clarity of the response. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and article usage throughout the text. For example, 'the maximum number of individual who are founded in giving majority change' is grammatically incoherent. The use of punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent spacing and incorrect comma usage. The student relies on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are consistently marred by errors, making the meaning difficult to discern.
