Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have attempted to introduce the data, the analysis is incomplete and stops abruptly mid-sentence. You have not provided a comprehensive summary of the trends across the five districts, nor have you made sufficient comparisons between them. To improve, ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, including the specific population changes for each district, and provide a more thorough overview that synthesizes the data rather than just listing isolated figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure due to its unfinished nature. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the lack of a body paragraph structure makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, such as 'In an overview' and 'At a fleeting glance', which are not standard academic phrases. To improve, focus on grouping related data points into distinct paragraphs and using more natural linking words to connect your observations.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and occasionally inaccurate. Phrases like 'rendered table charts' and 'at a fleeting glance' are unnatural in an academic context. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'previous year' when referring to a century-long trend. You should aim to use more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a significant rise', or 'accounted for'. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and nouns will help convey the information more professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'is was much higher' contains a subject-verb agreement error, and 'in wich the former stood' contains a spelling error. The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the attempt to use complex structures is hindered by punctuation and syntax issues. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses. Ensure that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
