Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you attempt to describe the data, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. You mention specific figures, but the analysis is fragmented and fails to make meaningful comparisons between the districts or across the time periods provided. The data interpretation is often confusing, such as the reference to '54% to 19%', which does not clearly relate to the provided tables. To improve, ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, provide a clear summary of the main features, and support your points with accurate data from the tables.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are not well-connected. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often inaccurate, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of information. For example, the transition between the general overview and the specific data points is abrupt. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping the data by time period or by district growth patterns.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to describe the data precisely. There are frequent errors in word choice and form, such as 'the table illustrate' (should be 'illustrates') and 'steadly' (should be 'steadily'). You rely on simple descriptors like 'highest number' and 'increasing', which do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'experienced a significant surge', 'remained relatively stable', or 'surpassed'. Work on your spelling and ensure you use the correct parts of speech.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('The table illustrate'), incorrect sentence structure ('The number of population are flucuated'), and misuse of prepositions. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, which are necessary to achieve a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Practice combining simple sentences into more complex ones using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to improve your grammatical range.
