Student answer (Band 5.0)
The Chart illustrate by what percentage of Population increase or decrease in New York City between 1800 to 2000.
Overall, the population in 1800 is 79,216 ,1900 is 3,437,202 and in 2000 is 8,009,185 . As given by the table there is huge addition in the population as accordind to years including all five districts.
We will disscused the very first district Manhattan according to the table as given below in years of 1800 there is total population is 60,515 total 76%
in 1900 population of 1,850,093 of 54% and in year of 2000 there is huge fluctution of poplution there is major decrease in population of 1,538,096 only 19%.
On the other hand, the population in other four district Brooklyn ,brronx, statenislan,Queen is relatively about 18,701 -24% in 1800 ,iin 1900 is 1,587,109 about 46% and in 2000 6,471,089 is 81% which is relatively higher than all years in all five district.
As you can see the highest population goes in 2000is 81% in other district while comparetively in same year in manhatten there is a decline in population only 19% .Meanwhile in year of 1800 in manhattan there is increase in population which is 76% and in same year in other district it it is only 24% which is comparetively less and in year in 1900 the percentage in manhattan is 54% and in other district is 46% which is comparetively also less
In conclusion, the major increase in population is of year is 1900 in both graps as in comparison to others years.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You include the main population figures for all three years and compare Manhattan with the combined other districts, so the response is relevant and covers much of the table. However, the overview is unclear: “huge addition” notes overall growth, but the key contrast—that Manhattan’s population rose to 1900 and then fell, while the other districts continued to grow—is not clearly summarised. The final claim that the major increase occurred in 1900 “in both” groups is inaccurate: the other districts’ population was much higher in 2000 than in 1900. Some comparisons are repeated rather than used to explain the main pattern. State the overall trends accurately, then select a few figures to support them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, several body sections and a conclusion, and phrases such as “On the other hand” show an attempt to connect contrasting information. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview, detailed comparisons and conclusion do not consistently reinforce one another. The final paragraph repeats the 1800 and 1900 percentages already given, while the conclusion introduces a misleading summary. Some linking phrases are awkward or unclear, including “Meanwhile in year of 1800” and “which is comparetively also less.” Organise the report into a concise overview followed by clear comparisons of Manhattan and the other districts, and use referencing and connectors only where they clarify the relationship between figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “population,” “percentage,” “decrease,” “decline” and “higher.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of the comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “huge addition,” “huge fluctution,” and “the highest population goes in 2000.” Spelling errors—including “disscused,” “poplution” and “manhatten”—also make the report less clear and less polished. Aim for precise, repeated-use data language rather than informal or vague expressions. Check spelling carefully and use terms such as “increased,” “accounted for,” and “population share” accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is weak: many sentences contain errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, prepositions or punctuation, and these sometimes make relationships between figures hard to understand. For example, “The Chart illustrate by what percentage of Population increase or decrease” has an incorrect verb form and an incomplete structure; “in years of 1800 there is total population is” also combines incompatible constructions. Commas and spacing are frequently missing, and sentence boundaries are unclear in places. Build accurate short sentences first, such as “Manhattan’s population was 60,515 in 1800,” then combine them with controlled clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
