Student answer (Band 6.0)

Availability of safe drinking water is basic human right so, every home should have access to clean water without provision of charge. I strongly agree with this view because this will prevent people from various water borne diseases and this is a basic need that a government should be able to fulfill this right.

People who have access to clean drinking water can be safe from illness that can cause by different diseases like diarrhoea, dysentry. People who are not affected by such diseases, they can live a happy and healthy life. Moreover, they don't have to spend their money on hospitals treating such kinds of diseases and can use their money in other sectors like education, investment, saving. Moreover, they can grow fresh vegetables on their own, thereby reducing consumption of contaminated foods. Therefore, people should be provide clean water without any charge.

In addition, right to safe drinking water is every citizen's right. Government should atleast allocate their resources in providing clean water for their public without any charge. Every people in country are paying taxes in everything therefore they should atleast provide clean water to their people. This is basic needs every human deserve. In remote areas, there is lack of proper infrastructure and water canals due to extreme geographical regions. To solve this, the government should construct water tanks in such areas from where people can drink water. That's why, i think government should work on this right.

In conclusion, providing clean water can prevent people from epidemic bacteria or viruses and make people healthy and government should centered the access to clean water as basic human need and allocate their resources accordingly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, especially preventing water-borne illness and arguing that governments should use tax revenue to provide this essential service. The reference to remote areas also adds a practical dimension. These points address the task, but they are not developed equally: the health argument includes consequences for household spending, while the tax argument is asserted rather than explained, and the suggestion to grow vegetables is not clearly connected to free water provision. To strengthen the response, explain how free access would work and support each main reason with a specific example or clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct themes, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, particularly with repeated “Moreover” and repeated references to “clean water” and “people.” Some connections between ideas are also unclear: the move from avoiding illness to growing vegetables does not follow smoothly, and the final sentence combines several points without a clear progression. Use more precise referencing and vary how you connect supporting details. Within paragraphs, make the relationship between each example and the main reason explicit so the overall argument flows more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “water-borne diseases,” “contaminated foods,” “allocate their resources,” and “infrastructure.” These choices make the subject clear and show attempts to use more specific language. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “provision of charge,” “epidemic bacteria or viruses,” and “centered the access.” Spelling errors in “dysentry” and inconsistent forms also reduce precision. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they limit the naturalness and accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim to learn common word partnerships for this topic and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a participial phrase in “thereby reducing consumption of contaminated foods.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “basic human right” needs an article, “diseases like diarrhoea” is followed by an incomplete construction, and “people should be provide” has an incorrect verb form. There are also agreement and sentence-boundary problems in “People who are not affected by such diseases, they can live…” and “This is basic needs.” Improve control of articles, subject–verb agreement, and verb forms, and avoid joining a subject to a second pronoun. More accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning clearer.
