Student answer (Band 5.5)
Although clean and free of cost water is not available everywhere, it is a basic right to have access to it in every home. I strongly agree to this viewpoint as clean water is necessary for the prevention from water borne diseases and to maintain a healthy life, also a basic human right but cleaning the available water remains a concern and people and government should work on it.
Water, food and shelter are the necessity and base of life, without which living is difficult. Water is used for everyday household activities like cleaning, washing and drinking. Similarly, on a larger scales it is used for manufacturing various chemicals and products used in daily living. The basis of life on earth basically starts with water. The need for clean water is a basic human right. Every individual should have access to clean water in their homes. For example, world health organization studies show water availability in cities and 2 percent availability of water in village in third world countries.
But the excess water use and limited water cleaning methods have raised concerns all over the world as many water borne diseases are spread like hepatitis B which is fatal in many cases. For instance, pany villages in apkistan are said to have dangerous water quality. It is a matter of extreme importance and the role of people in this should be raising awareness on the limited use of water and alarming people on the scarcity of water. Governments should work for developing better, efficient and cost friendly methods to clean water and provide it in every home. When both the parties work together for the betterment the improvement will be seen early.
In conclusion clean water availability remains a major concern and causes diseases which can be improved by. etter reforms and cleaning methods so it can be made avaliable easily at homes as it is a basic human right to have clean water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that homes should have access to clean water, and you give relevant reasons, including disease prevention and the importance of water in daily life. You also suggest roles for individuals and governments. However, the response only partly develops the central claim about a supply being provided free of charge. Most of the discussion concerns access to clean water and water treatment, rather than whether households should pay. The example about water availability is unclear and does not directly support the free-supply argument. To strengthen the response, explain why water should be free, address possible costs or limits, and use specific, clearly explained evidence to support your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally relate to clean water. Some progression is visible from water’s importance to health concerns and possible action. However, links between points are sometimes unclear: the discussion shifts from household use to industrial manufacturing, then to water scarcity and government action without consistently connecting these ideas to free provision. Several sentences also contain multiple points joined together, making the argument harder to follow. The conclusion repeats the concern about availability but does not clearly summarise the reasons or return to the question of cost. Use clearer topic sentences and make each paragraph develop one main reason in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary such as “water borne diseases,” “scarcity,” “awareness,” and “cleaning methods,” showing that you can discuss the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, including “a matter of extreme importance.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, as in “cleaning the available water,” “cost friendly methods,” and “the necessity and base of life.” Spelling errors such as “pany,” “apkistan,” “etter,” and “avaliable” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, use “treat water,” “cost-effective methods,” and “essential to life” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty or overloaded. The opening sentence joins several ideas without a clear grammatical structure, and “The basis of life on earth basically starts with water” is awkwardly constructed. There are also errors in agreement and number, such as “Water, food and shelter are the necessity,” and in sentence structure, including “When both the parties work together for the betterment the improvement will be seen early.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention, particularly where several clauses are joined by commas. Practise building shorter, complete sentences before combining ideas.
