Student answer (Band 6.0)

IT IS WITHOUT DOUBT THAT ACCESS TO A NEAT WATER SUPPLY IS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT OF EVERY HUMAN. IN CONTRARY TO THAT, EVERY HOUSEHOLD SHOULD HAVE A CLEAN WATER SUPPLY OFFERED TO THEM WITHOUT ANY FEE ATTACHED. I STRONGLY AGREE WITH THIS BECAUSE OF THE IMPORTANT OF WATER TO INDIVIDUAL'S HEALTH AND ALSO ITS ENVIRONMENTAL NEED.

ON THE ONE HAND, CLEAN WATER IS VERY CRUCIAL IN WELL-BEING OF A INDIVIDUAL. FURTHERMORE, HAVING ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER THAT IS SUPPLIED WITH NO COST WILL MOTIVATE PEOPLE TO DRINK ENOUGH WATER EVERYDAY, AND ALSO ENCOURAGE THEM TO UTILIZE WATER TO IMPROVE THEIR PHYSICAL CONDIDTIONS SUCH AS BATHING. IN A RECENT RESEARCH IN A RURAL COMMUNITY, IT IS STATED THAT THERE IS A LOW FIGURE OF PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM KIDNEY STONE DISEASE, THIS IS LINKED TO THE FACT THAT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY ARE CONSUMING AND GETTING AN ADEQUATE WATER NEEDED FOR THE BODY FUNCTION.

ON THE OTHER HAND, A CLEAN WATER SUPPLY IS VERY ESSENTIAL FOR THE ECOSYSTEM. HAVING A NEAT WATER OFFER TO A STATE FREE OF CHARGE WILL ENABLE FARMERS USE WATER FOR THEIR FARMING ACTIVITIES AND ALSO INCREASE THE SPECIES OF CROPS. FOR EXAMPLE, FARMERS IN LAGOS STATE COMPLAINED OF FOOD SCARCITY IN THEIR STATE, WHICH ALSO AFFECTED THEIR ANNUAL INCOME. THEY WENT FURTHER TO GIVE REASON AS SHORTAGE OF WATER THEY EXPERIENCED DURING THE FARMING SEASON BECAUSE THEY WERE TRYING TO MANAGE THE AMOUNT SPENT BUYING WATER IN THEIR CITY.

OVERALL, MAKING WATER AVAILABLE TO INDIVIDUAL AT NO COST IS A BASIC RIGHT OF EVERY CITIZEN. THIS WILL NOT ONLY IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THEIR HEALTH BUT WILL ALSO HELP THE ECOSYSTEM BY MAKING IT ECO-FRIENDLY. I ENCOURAGE THE AUTHORITIES INVOLVE, TO ENSURE WATER IS BEING OFFERED TO PEOPLE AT NO COST.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support free household water, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the health and farming/environmental aspects with relevant examples, including hydration and farmers’ difficulty managing water costs. This fully covers the central question, while the clear stance and supporting examples show some qualities of a stronger response. However, the reasoning is not always fully explained: the link between free household supply and farmers’ access to water for agriculture needs clarification, and the claim that free water would encourage people to drink enough is asserted rather than demonstrated. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation of how it supports your position, and ensure examples directly illustrate the proposal.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “ON THE ONE HAND” and “ON THE OTHER HAND,” and a concluding paragraph. This makes the overall line of argument easy to follow. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, and the relationship between ideas within paragraphs is not always clear. For example, the research claim about kidney stones is followed by a broad statement about water consumption without explaining the evidence or connection. Similarly, the farming example concerns water costs and food scarcity, but its link to free water for every home is left implicit. Use transitions that show the precise relationship between claims, and make references such as “THIS” and “THEY” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “fundamental right,” “ecosystem,” “food scarcity,” and “annual income,” so the main ideas can be communicated. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing. However, noticeable word-choice, collocation, and word-form errors reduce precision: “neat water supply” is not the natural expression, “the important of water” uses the wrong form, and “a clean water offer to a state” is difficult to interpret. “Increase the species of crops” also does not express the likely meaning clearly. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than substituting near-synonyms, and check spelling, as in “condidtions.” This would make your vocabulary more reliable and help the argument sound more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which,” and your meaning is generally recoverable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, and verb patterns. For example, “well-being of a individual” needs an article correction, “the local community are consuming” has a subject–verb agreement issue, and “will enable farmers use” needs a different verb pattern. The sentence beginning “In a recent research” also combines several claims in a way that makes its structure difficult to follow. Work on article use, singular and plural agreement, and verb complements, then punctuate longer sentences so that each claim is clearly separated. These corrections would improve accuracy without sacrificing sentence variety.
