Student answer (Band 6.0)
Clean water should be supplied to every household without charging any fees, for it is a basic human right. I strongly agree with this view because water is essential for survival and is used for multiple purposes.
Water is vital for every living being, as it is required for every other thing. Water is not only used for drinking, but for cooking, washing, cleaning and so on. Since water is so crucial for everyone, every individual deserves to have access to water that is pure and clean to consume. This is particularly true for the people living in underdeveloped nations, where the citizens have a hard time affording basic necessities including clean water. For instance, in a developing country like India, a major portion of the population do not have access to clean water due to various reasons, such as unaffordable prices, residence of living, unawareness among citizens etc. Hence, water free from impurities should be accessible to everyone.
Another point to consider is that supplying pure water reduces the risk of diseases among communities. Consumption of contaminated water can cause serious diseases like typhoid and cholera, which can turn out to be life threatening, specifically for infants and young children. For this reason, governments should provide water which is free from impurities to prevent diseases among the public. For example, after floods people in my hometwon faced water scarcity and clean water was hardly available, due to which a large number of people fell sick and many died. This clearly demonstrates the importance of having clean water.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that higher authorities should make clean water free of cost for everyone because water is essential and necessary for survival .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons: water is needed for daily life, and clean supplies can reduce disease. The examples about access in India and illness after floods help make the argument concrete. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the first paragraph lists uses of water and then makes broad claims about affordability without explaining how free household supply would address the problem. The disease argument is clearer, though it could distinguish the right to clean water from the proposal that all household water be free. Develop that distinction and explain the practical benefits or limits of free provision to make the reasoning more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Transitions such as “Another point to consider” and “For this reason” help readers follow the argument, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant claims. However, some links are mechanical or repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “water” and “clean water,” and “Hence” introduces a conclusion without fully showing how the preceding details establish it. The first body paragraph also moves from general uses to affordability and then to India rather quickly. Use more precise referencing and develop the connection between each example and the claim it supports; this would make progression smoother and cohesion less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including relevant terms such as “contaminated,” “impurities,” “affording basic necessities,” and “life threatening.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range is not consistently precise or natural. Phrases such as “required for every other thing,” “residence of living,” and “a major portion of the population” are awkward or unclear, while “water” and “clean” recur frequently. There are also spelling and form issues, including “hometwon” and “unawareness.” Aim for accurate collocations and more specific wording rather than adding complexity: for example, describe households as “unable to afford” water and refer to “access to safe drinking water.” This would improve clarity and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentences, including subordinate clauses with “Since,” “which,” and “because,” and most of the argument remains easy to understand. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “a major portion of the population do not have,” the subject and verb do not agree; use “does not” or recast the sentence as “many people do not.” The phrase “people living in underdeveloped nations, where the citizens…” also has an unclear reference, and “after floods people…” needs punctuation after the introductory phrase. The final sentence has an unnecessary space before the full stop. Review agreement, clause references, and punctuation, while continuing to use varied sentence structures; greater consistency would strengthen accuracy.
