Student answer (Band 5.5)

Clean water accessibility is the fundamental human right and they must have free of charge water supply. I agree with this opinion because citizens pay taxes to the government so this is the basic right to have an adequate water supply at free of charge and most of the low-middle income families cannot bear the additional financial burden in order to get clean water.

Water is the basic necessity of life and people should have free access to clean water supply. This is becasue, citizens pay taxes to the Government so this the responsibility of the governing bodies to manage water distribution channels effectively and provide adequate supply of fresh water to everyone.

Another reason why fresh water supply should be free is that, buying water to fulfil their demands could be quite stressful for people especially low-middle incomes families. Majority of the people cannot manage to buy pure water as people are already paying bills and managing other expenses as well so they can be compelled to use contaminated water inorder to fulfil the need. For example, a huge amount of fresh water is used in domestic and agricultural practices in which poor people could be unable to buy excessive amount of water

In conclusion, I believe that every home must have consistent fresh water supply because it is the fundamnetal right of every human being. Since citizens pay taxes to the government and majority of people cannot afford to buy water to do their dialy task.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge. You give two relevant reasons—tax contributions and the financial pressure on lower-income families—and the example of domestic and agricultural demand helps illustrate the issue. However, the ideas remain general and are not fully explained; for instance, you do not clarify how tax funding would cover the costs of treatment and distribution, or develop the example with a specific situation. The response also does not meet the stated minimum length, falling two words short. Develop each reason with fuller explanation and a more precise example to address the task more completely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main points are generally easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Another reason” and “For example” help signal the direction of the argument. However, the first body paragraph largely repeats the claim and tax argument from the introduction, so progression is limited. Some connections are awkward or unclear, particularly the example about water used in agriculture, which is not clearly tied to the claim about household access. The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together. Give each paragraph a distinct purpose and use clearer links between claims, explanations and examples.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “water distribution channels,” “contaminated water,” “financial burden” and “adequate water supply,” which allows you to discuss the issue. However, the range is somewhat repetitive: “water,” “supply,” “fresh” and “free” recur frequently, and several combinations are not natural, such as “at free of charge” and “low-middle incomes families.” Spelling errors such as “becasue,” “fundamnetal” and “dialy” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise, natural collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, distinguish between access to safe drinking water and the cost of household water provision. Proofreading for spelling and word forms would make your meaning more polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence explaining that people may be compelled to use contaminated water. The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors occur in basic sentence construction and agreement. For example, “they must have” has an unclear pronoun reference, while “so this the responsibility” is missing a verb. The final sentence beginning “Since citizens pay taxes” is a dependent clause left without a complete main clause. Articles and plural forms also need attention, as in “the fundamental human right” and “low-middle income families.” Practise checking that each sentence has a complete clause and that subjects, verbs and articles agree.
