Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are a lot of human right which aid the individuals to live a healthy life and one one them is access to clean water. It should be provided free of cost to every house. I totally disagree with this perspective as it not only alleviates the importance of water to many people but also contributes to more wastage due to free.
Commencing with the most prominent reason for my disagreement is that if water should be free of cost, many people are unable to understand the importance of clean water. For instance, in India, many people will not hesitate to pollute their water bodies named as Ganga, Yamuna or other rivers. This will result in the arise of many deadly diseases for the people who live nearby these polluted rivers. Therefore, Water will lose its importance if provided without any cost.
Another worth considering reason is that unnecessary usage of water will proliferated, if it should be given free. In this way people will be unable to restore water for their upcoming generations, by which future generations have to face scarcity of water and spent huge financials to attain clean water for their daily life. Thus, to avoid water wastage, there should be some charge on clean water supply.
In conclusion, Although water is a basic human right to access clean water, people will lost its importance and waste the water more if it should be free. Hence, authorities can make some rules and regulation on water usage and should add a cost to have clean water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with making household water free, and the conclusion restates this view. You give two relevant reasons—people may undervalue water and use more of it—and support the first with examples of pollution in Indian rivers. This addresses the question, but the reasoning is not equally developed. The link between charging households and preventing pollution of rivers is asserted rather than explained, and the second paragraph predicts future scarcity without evidence or a concrete example. Also, the response could engage more directly with the distinction between guaranteeing access as a right and charging for supply. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation of how it supports your position and acknowledge this distinction to strengthen the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Another worth considering reason” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression, and the central position remains consistent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the clearer progression associated with a stronger performance. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “Therefore,” “Thus,” and “In this way,” and some connections between claims are not fully established. For example, the move from free water to river pollution needs an explicit explanation. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make the relationship between each example, explanation, and main claim more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range to discuss the topic, including “basic human right,” “pollute,” “deadly diseases,” “scarcity,” and “water wastage.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and attempts at more formal phrasing show some ambition. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the arise of many deadly diseases,” “restore water,” and “spent huge financials.” “Free of cost” is also repeated where more natural alternatives could vary the expression. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and fluency. Focus on learning common collocations for water supply and resource management, and check word forms and phrasing when using less familiar vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses (“if water should be free of cost”) and a concessive opening in the conclusion (“Although water is a basic human right…”). The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “There are a lot of human right,” “it not only alleviates,” “usage … will proliferated,” and “people will lost its importance”; these involve agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. Articles and punctuation also need attention, as in “Water” after a comma and the comma before “if” in the second body paragraph. To improve, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and revise each sentence to ensure its clauses are connected correctly.
