Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that clean water is a fundamental human need, so every house should have a water connection which is provided free of cost. I firmly agree with this perspective because people can save money and can spend that for their well-being.

The primary argument in favour of providing free water supply because it can help individuals to manage their monthly budget easily. In many under developed countries, people are usually under poverty line and giving them a facility sould be a positive point for them to survive with their low income and they can avail better opportunities such as education and healthcare by savinng money. For instance, in large cities such as Karachi, people have to pay for water which ultimately leads them lack of budget.

A further benefit is the significant improvement in people health and hygiene. When families donot have to worry about paying for every litre, they can use enough water for drinking, cooking, bathing and ceaning their homes properly. This helps prevent diseases, especially in childern and elderly people. For example, in a recent magzine a reseach revealed that people who donot use proper water in their everyday life, have a higher risk of diseases as compare of those who use and drink enough water and keep their selves hydrated.

In conclusion, clean water is a human right and providing free water supply is beneficial in many terms such as better health and affordable life style. Governement should have to pay attention on this issue because it can make everyone's life much more easier.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I firmly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: free water could ease pressure on household budgets and support better health and hygiene. The examples about low-income households and water use for drinking, cooking and cleaning help explain these points. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the Karachi example is brief and does not clearly show how water charges affect families, while the magazine-based research claim is vague and difficult to verify. To develop the response further, explain the practical consequences of these examples and address how a free supply might be funded or managed. The main ideas are relevant, though some need fuller, clearer support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “The primary argument,” “A further benefit” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical, and a few sentences are difficult to track because several ideas are joined together. For example, the first body paragraph moves from poverty to education and healthcare, then to Karachi, without fully explaining the links. The research example in the second body paragraph also contains several claims in one sentence. Use clearer sentence boundaries and refer back explicitly to the point each example supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fundamental human need,” “monthly budget,” “hygiene,” “prevent diseases” and “healthcare,” so the reader can understand your main arguments. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “significant improvement.” However, noticeable spelling errors (“sould,” “savinng,” “childern,” “magzine,” “reseach”) and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations reduce precision. Phrases such as “in many terms,” “lack of budget” and “as compare of” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Aim to learn vocabulary in common collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would make your explanations sound clearer and more academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a conditional structure beginning “When families donot have to worry.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors make parts less clear. For example, “The primary argument in favour of providing free water supply because…” is missing a main clause, and “leads them lack of budget” has an incomplete grammatical pattern. There are also issues with agreement and sentence construction in “Government should have to pay attention on this issue” and “make everyone's life much more easier.” Practise building complete clauses and checking verb patterns, articles and comparative forms. Greater control of these structures would improve accuracy while preserving your range.
