Student answer (Band 4.0)

Human life depends on necessities to be fulfilled which are important for living. Out of those necessities, clean water is one of the most important human right. I completely agree with the fact that evey home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. Water is a natural resource that is ot the property of any government or landlord. Also, it is abundnlty available in the world covering about more than 70% of the land.

Water is almost used in daily life to fulfill most of the human needs. Therefore, every country should focus in providing clean water for their citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a clear position—“I completely agree”—and give relevant starting points: water is essential for daily needs, and you argue that it should not be controlled by governments or landlords. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. It does not explain how providing water free of charge would work, consider costs or practical limits, or develop its reasons with examples. The claim that water covers “more than 70% of the land” does not establish that clean, accessible water is abundant. The response contains 92 words, below the required 250; 12 words copied from the prompt were not counted. To develop the answer, explain and support two clear reasons, such as health and affordability, and address how public funding could provide the service.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic progression: it introduces the importance of water, states agreement, and then adds a point about daily use and government responsibility. Linking expressions such as “Out of those necessities,” “Also,” and “Therefore” help show how some ideas relate. However, the organisation is very limited, with no developed body paragraphs or conclusion, and the final sentence largely repeats the earlier claim that countries should provide water. The connection between water being a natural resource and the conclusion that household supply should be free is not fully explained. Use separate paragraphs for each reason, develop the link between claims, and finish by restating your position after the supporting discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “necessities,” “human right,” “natural resource,” and “water supply,” so the main subject is clear. There are also attempts to express general ideas about access and public responsibility. However, the range is narrow and some phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “necessities to be fulfilled,” “focus in providing,” and “Water is almost used in daily life.” Spelling errors in “evey,” “ot,” and “abundnlty” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, you could write that water is “essential for daily life” and that governments should “prioritise providing” safe water.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You form several understandable simple sentences and attempt a longer opening construction, as in “Human life depends on necessities to be fulfilled which are important for living.” The main position is also expressed in a complete sentence. However, sentence structures are mostly simple, and the longer construction is awkward and difficult to follow. There are errors in agreement and articles: “clean water is one of the most important human right” should use a plural noun, and “for their citizens” follows a singular subject, “every country.” The phrase “focus in providing” also uses an incorrect preposition pattern. Practise combining ideas with clear relative clauses and subordinate clauses, while checking articles, agreement, and prepositions.
