Student answer (Band 5.5)
Clean water is a basic human right and every home should have a water supply but I do not believe that it sould be free of charge.
As we live in a world where everything is not just controlled but is managed by government. It is there responsibity to provide clean water to their citizens however it makes is difficult to manage the providence of clen water without charging people. As it takes technogy, electricity, humanforce to supply water to every home, it could not be imagine, to do such with any money invovled and even so if you talk about the taxes the government takes, well, we have to realize that there are other things as well that the government is managing for instance building school, working on the education system, healthcare sytem, law and justice and many more. Keeping these things lumps free take money from the government. So if we are suggesting that the government should provide clean water for free to every home, firstly it overburdens the governments fund, and this overburden might be thrown over on the working class in the face of increased fuel price, lack of facilities in healthcare.
Another reason, I do not agree with the idea of provision of clean water is that it also creates a sense of irresponsibility among the citizens. It is unfortunate that people are seen to be ungreatful and irresponsible for the things that natur has given them for free for instance the damages of ozone layer, cutting of forests, and many more.
Hence, I believe that access to clean water is a basic right but providing it for free to people won't be a good idea in the long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you accept that clean water is a right but disagree that it should be free. You give relevant reasons, especially the costs of treatment and delivery and the risk that free provision could encourage waste. The examples of government spending on schools and healthcare help explain the financial argument. However, the cost point is developed more fully than the claim that charging encourages responsibility; the references to ozone damage and deforestation do not directly show how water pricing would change behaviour. To strengthen the response, explain how a modest charge could fund maintenance or discourage excessive use, and support that point with a specific example. This would make both main ideas more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body sections present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “Another reason” and “Hence” make the progression easy to follow. However, the first body paragraph contains several ideas in one long sequence, so the central argument about costs becomes harder to track. The list of government responsibilities could be shortened or separated from the explanation of how water charges work. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the move from free water to increased fuel prices and reduced healthcare facilities. Use shorter, more focused paragraphs and make the cause-and-effect links explicit to improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “overburdens,” “healthcare system,” and “irresponsibility.” These choices help communicate your main arguments, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “sould,” “responsibity,” “clen,” “technogy,” and “ungreatful.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “the providence of clean water,” “keeping these things lumps free,” and “working class in the face of increased fuel price.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Check spelling carefully and choose standard collocations, such as “water provision,” “public services,” and “higher fuel prices.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause beginning “As we live in a world…” and a conditional structure with “if you talk about the taxes.” The main position remains understandable, but some sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. “As we live in a world…” is a fragment, while “it could not be imagine” has an incorrect verb form; “it is their responsibility” also needs a possessive determiner. Long sentences joined mainly by commas make grammatical relationships difficult to follow, especially in the first body paragraph. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and use full stops to separate the cost argument from examples. Proofreading for agreement, articles, and verb forms will improve accuracy.
