Student answer (Band 6.5)

Access to clean water is a fundamental human right. Therefore, some belive that everyone should be given water supply without any payment. I agree witth the idea that everyone musttt have clean acess to water supply but witthout any charge is not practical as it will be risky for infratructe and environment.

On the one hand, safe water is neccessary for every human being with a resonable price. If the charge is stricty high for fresh water lower class people will consume unhealty and contamineted water. The government should provide prominent amount of water for every household. Additionally, the charge of water supply must be within a limit for all the citizen to avail when ever in need.

On the other hand, providing water supply for free will cost economic downfall. The supply of water requires huge amount for infratructural arrangemnet and management cost. Without payment it is not possibole to maintain vast distribution. Furthermore, if everyone is given given free water they will underestimate the value of clean water. Water reserve is very crucial for society but it will be of less concern for people if the amount is unlimited and free. Wasting water has negative environmental effect also. The scarsity of water will gradually increase in the part of the world where rainfall in limited.

In conclusion, having access to clean water in undoubtedly one of the basic needs for our survival. But free on cost will decrese the value of pure water supply. The economy, environment, infratructure of a counttry will suffer from insufficient resourses. Eventually, it will effect human lives in a negative way. So, clean water should be available butt with a minimum wage which is convenient for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear throughout: you support access to clean water but oppose making the entire supply free, concluding that it should be available at an affordable charge. You address both sides by explaining that high prices could push poorer households towards unsafe water, while free provision could strain infrastructure and encourage waste. These points are relevant and supported with consequences, such as environmental harm in areas with limited rainfall. This gives the response a clear, developed argument. To strengthen it further, make the distinction between a basic free allocation and charges for additional use more explicit, and support broad claims such as “economic downfall” with a more precise explanation or example. This would make the reasoning more fully developed and less generalised.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: the introduction states your position, the two body paragraphs present contrasting considerations, and the conclusion restates your view. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Ideas within the second body paragraph also move logically from the cost of provision to maintenance and then to waste and scarcity. At times, however, links between claims could be more explicit: for example, explain more directly how charging for water would help maintain infrastructure or reduce waste. Some transitions are formulaic, so using a wider range of linking and referencing strategies would make the progression feel more flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “contaminated water,” “distribution,” “water reserve,” and “environmental effect,” and the reader can generally understand your argument. However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make reading less smooth, as in “belive,” “neccessary,” “infratructure,” and “scarsity.” There are also inaccurate or unnatural word choices and collocations, such as “economic downfall,” “prominent amount of water,” and “minimum wage” for a water charge. These choices limit precision even when the intended meaning can be inferred. Build a reliable set of topic-specific phrases and check spelling and collocation carefully; for instance, use “substantial investment,” “a sufficient quantity,” and “an affordable tariff.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional reasoning (“If the charge is…”) and a concession introduced by “but.” This allows you to express causes and consequences, and the main argument remains understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms occur often enough to reduce accuracy. Examples include “everyone should be given water supply,” where an article is needed, “if everyone is given given free water,” with an unintended repetition, and “it will effect human lives,” where the verb form is incorrect. There are also problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, such as “The economy, environment, infrastructure… will suffer.” Practise accurate articles, agreement, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence for repeated or missing words.
