Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the student expresses a clear position (agreeing that water is a basic right), the arguments are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth for an academic task. The response fails to address the economic or logistical implications of providing water 'free of charge,' focusing only on the biological necessity of water. Due to the extreme brevity and lack of supporting evidence, the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks a clear structure, such as an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The flow of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and often inaccurate (e.g., 'Also human replenishes energy drink water therefore'). There is no logical progression of arguments, and the lack of paragraphing makes the text difficult to follow. The writing feels like a collection of fragmented thoughts rather than a cohesive essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. There are significant issues with word choice and spelling, such as 'indure' (endure) and 'liqued' (liquid). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the student relies on simple, everyday language. There is no attempt to use less common or academic vocabulary, which is expected at higher band levels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. Examples include 'we would might be die,' 'we are have to drink,' and 'human replenishes energy drink water.' The sentence structures are simple and often incorrect, showing a lack of control over basic syntax and verb tenses. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is largely absent or misused, making the text difficult to read.
