Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is undeniable that in today's world access to clean water is a basic human right. In this regard, every home should have a water supply that is supplied free of charge. I agree up to some extent with this given notion due to numerous reasons which will be outlined in forthcoming fragments with logical conclusion.
To commence with, there are several reasons that every home should not be provided water with free of charge. The First and foremost is misuse of water. To explain, the country's populace will start misuse of water if government start providing it free of cost. And it is not economical way to provide clean water supply to every home with zero cost instead, another way should be used. They will not value because people will not be in loss if they are given free water supply. Secondly, there is scarcity of resources. To elaborate, in country like India has scarcity of resources due to unsustainable use of resources. For instance, there are many water resources like lakes, ponds and seas but, that is not safe for drinking and other uses, So people should use water in a way that it also must be secure for future use. Furthermore, the economy will fall. To clarify, if government of a nation provide free water to every home, in future they will appear a huge loss and losses it's financial insatiability. As a result, economy will decline and government will be in huge burden.
However, there are also few benefits of access to clean water to every home. The prime one is that it improves public health and prevent disease. To justify, access to free water supply to all individuals leads to improvement in health of person as it avoids diseases like malaria, dengue and typhoid. To epitome, providing clean water to all the residents of a country prevent diseases and help them to keep healthy, fit and fine. Moreover, it reduces the poverty as people have not to pay for water supply at their homes and it decreases their some expenses.
In conclusion although there are many reasons that every home should not have a water supply at free of charge such as decline in an economy, scarcity of resources and misuse of water. Yet benefits cannot be neglected at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that balances the arguments for and against free water supply. The ideas are relevant, such as the potential for misuse and economic burden versus public health benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second paragraph where the point about economic decline is restated multiple times. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on extending arguments with more specific, nuanced examples rather than repeating the same point in different words. The conclusion is a bit brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some of the transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To epitome' (which is not a standard phrase) and 'forthcoming fragments'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' in 'they will appear a huge loss', where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the variety and natural flow of linking words would enhance the coherence of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'insatiability' and 'populace', though some are used incorrectly or in unnatural collocations (e.g., 'financial insatiability' instead of 'financial instability'). There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'in loss' instead of 'at a loss'. To improve, the student should focus on learning the specific contexts in which certain words are used and aim for more precise collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the government', 'a nation'), prepositions, and verb forms (e.g., 'if government start providing' should be 'if the government starts providing'). Some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as 'And it is not economical way to provide clean water supply to every home with zero cost instead, another way should be used.' These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
