Student answer (Band 6.5)
While i acknowledge that access to clean water is very important that because people need it for drinking, cooking, and washing. I only partially agree with the idea that clean water is a basic human right and people should receive basic amount of water for free, while they should pay if they use more than that as there are other equally importand factors to consider.
First, clean water is necessary for everyone health. Without safe water, people can become sick and diseases can spread quickly. Poor families may not be able to a basic water supply can improve their lives. For instance, many developing countries have problems that because some people cannot get enough clean water.
On the other hand, providing unlimited free water may cause problems. Some people may waste water if they do not have to pay for it. In addition, governments need money to build and maintain water systems. If everyone receives free water without limits, it may become difficult to provide good services.
From my perspective, every family should receive enough free water for daily needs, but they should pay for extra use. This system can protect human right. However, only basic amount should be free, and people should pay for additional water to reduce waste and support the water supply system.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 216 words. This significantly limits the depth of the argument. While the ideas regarding public health and economic sustainability are relevant, they are under-developed. For example, the point about 'developing countries' is mentioned but not sufficiently expanded upon to provide a robust argument. To improve, you must elaborate on your points with more specific examples or deeper analysis to meet the length requirement and fully develop your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the flow is sometimes mechanical, and the connection between sentences could be more sophisticated. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is slightly abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is smoother and more nuanced.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common words like 'important', 'problems', and 'good'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'importand' (spelling) and 'everybody health' (should be 'everybody's health'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'infrastructure', 'sustainability', or 'socio-economic implications', rather than repeating simple descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow, such as 'that because people need it' (incorrect clause structure) and 'Poor families may not be able to a basic water supply' (missing verb). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are fragmented or run-on. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct subordinating conjunctions. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms would also be beneficial.
