IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

water is the basic need of every person's life and health. without water people do not survive. i agree that every home should have clean water supply, so people easily survive with that.

on the one hand, clean water is a necessary for drinking, cooking, also in cleaning and for maintaining hygiene. if people do not have access of clean water, it can affect their health and they face some problems. poor communities people affect quickly by the unsafe water supply. for example, many countries reduced water related illnesses by providing clean drinking water to poor comminities. therefor, free access to clean water can improve public health.

secondly, clean water should not depend on the person's income. every family deserves enough water to meet their daily needs. low-income families often struggle to pay utility bills, and charging high prices for water can make their situation even worse. so that in some countries, governments provide a limited amount of free water to every household. and ensure that, it is enough for their daily needs.

on the other hand, some people argue that water should not be completely free because treatment, transportation, and maintenance of water system are expensive. so that provide limited water as free not fully so that it help to maintain water supply and not burden on government.

In conclusion, i agree that every household should receive a basic amount of clean water free of charge because it is a fundamental human need and essential for health so that it is important.
