Student answer (Band 7.0)

Access to clean water is a basic needs of every human being. some people believe that every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. but I partly agree with this views because everyone should access to essential water, but providing unlimited water completely free of charge may lead to unnecessary wastage.

Firstly clean water is extremely important for people's health and daily lives. people need a water daily routine like drinking , cooking, washing and maintaining hygiene. if do not access to safe water , they can suffer to the various diseasses. This problem can be serious for poor families who can not afford to the cost of water in daily life.Therefor government should make sure that every houshold has access to basic amount of clean water. For example they could provide a certain quantity of water free of charge to low income families.

On other hand , providing a unlimited water for free could encouge the waste of water,. in many country water storage are becoming the serious problem due to climate changes. If people have to pay amount for water they use , they may become a more careful for wastge of water. In addition the money collected from water bill the government may use the money for the pipes and improve water treatment systems

In conclusion , i believe that clean water should be available to everyone, for healthy life. however I do not thik that unlimitaed water should be completely free. goverment should provide the water as a low cost for unnessery water consumption.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that water is a right but should not be entirely free to prevent waste. The ideas are relevant and logically developed, such as the suggestion of providing a basic quota for low-income families. However, the development is somewhat brief, and the argument could be strengthened by providing more specific examples or deeper analysis of the economic implications. The position is consistent throughout the essay, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0, but the brevity of the supporting arguments keeps it at the lower end of the band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'On other hand', and 'In addition', though some are slightly mechanical or contain minor errors (e.g., 'On other hand' should be 'On the other hand'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, although the transition between the need for hygiene and the government's role could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, which helps the reader follow the argument easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'water treatment systems', 'unnecessary wastage', and 'low income families'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'diseasses', 'houshold', 'encouge', 'unnessery') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'suffer to the various diseases'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more attention to spelling and word choice to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the cost of water', 'the water'), prepositions ('access to', 'suffer from'), and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing spaces after commas and periods. Despite these errors, the student demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, such as 'If people have to pay amount for water they use, they may become a more careful for wastage of water.' The errors are noticeable but rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended message.
