Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the contemporary era, access to clean water is a rudimentary human right, so every
households should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. Meanwhile, I
would disagree with the above statement to a major extent, reasons will be explained in
the ensuing paragraphs.
Discussing the reasons to support my agreement, the most evident one is that some
individuals may not value the water. To justify it further, if government provide water
without any cost, many people will use the water even if they do not need. It is
detrimental habit, due to this water may be wasted. Then, shortage of water may be
created.
Another factor is that government should take a charge of the water in order to improve
water system connection. To be more precise, cities which do not have sufficient water
sources. They may pass through water shortage. Therefore, government should take a
money from the cities which have great sources of water, and improve water supplies
line between two cities. For instance, Africa has taken a charge from cities which have
best water sources, and using this fund into water supply lines to solve the issue of the
water, cities that do not have enough water.
However, other side should not be disregarded. The most significant one is that instead
of taking charge government should invent new machineries which convert salted water
into pure water. To be more specific, government should support scientist to find new
machineries which clean the water, so thar they can provide water in free of cost.
Furthermore. they may beneficial for a country and individuals.
To conclude and offer my viewpoint, I would disagree with the every home should have a
water supply that is provided free of charge because of not only some individuals may
not value the water but also with the purpose of improving water system connection,
government should take a charge of the water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position against free water supply. You provide relevant arguments, such as the potential for waste and the need for infrastructure funding. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding Africa is vague and lacks sufficient detail to fully support your argument. While you acknowledge the opposing view, the explanation of how technology could solve the issue is slightly underdeveloped. To improve, ensure that your supporting examples are more specific and that your reasoning is fully explored to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To be more precise' and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Then, shortage of water may be created' and 'However, other side should not be disregarded'. Additionally, there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as the sentence fragment 'cities that do not have enough water' at the end of the third paragraph. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words will help your ideas connect more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'rudimentary', 'detrimental', and 'machineries'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'take a charge of the water' instead of 'charge for water' or 'levy a fee', and 'take a money' instead of 'collect revenue'. Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'improve water supplies line'. While your meaning is generally clear, expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations and refining your word choice will help you reach a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include article misuse ('the government', 'the water'), subject-verb agreement ('every households should', 'government should take a money'), and sentence fragments ('They may pass through water shortage'). While these errors do not usually impede communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, try to vary your sentence structure further by using more complex subordinating clauses to demonstrate greater control over your writing.
