Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is argument that access of pure water is common human right, therefore it should be supplied to every individual without any cost. In my opinion, this is a valid argument as water is the gift of nature and it shouldn't be used for commercial purpose.
Water is naturally and easily accessible resource and it is required in most of the time for every individual so charging fee for water seems unacceptable. As an example, if poor peoples who doesn't earn a penny is charged for the water they cannot survive even a week as for health and other requirements water is compulsory.
Water should be considered for human wellbeing not to fill the pocket of some businesspersons. In African countries many individuals have been suffering just because of lack of water as peoples below poverty line cannot pay for clean water and they are forced to use dirty water even for drinking purpose only. Due to this, African peoples have been suffering from many diseases which may even lead to death.
Many peoples often argue that the process of cleaning it costs charge and up to some extent it is a discussable opinion as the machineries used to purify it are expensive. In some nations, due to lack of resources government often give private companies a tender for the purification of water which may be a reason that people had to pay for water.
In conclusion, some people may argue that due to cost of purification and processing everyone have to pay for water, but I ultimately believe that water is a naturally available resource, so everyone have equal right on it, and everyone must have access of water without spending a penny.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt directly and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments regarding the human right to water and the economic challenges of purification. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about 'filling the pockets of businesspersons' is a bit simplistic and could be better supported with a more nuanced discussion on public-private partnerships or government subsidies. While the position is consistent, the supporting examples, particularly the mention of African countries, are a bit generalised. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more specific reasoning or evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In conclusion' and 'For example', to guide the reader. However, the use of linking words is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'it' in 'the process of cleaning it costs charge'. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents will help improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'commercial purpose', 'wellbeing', and 'poverty line'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'costs charge' instead of 'incurs costs', 'peoples' (which should be 'people' as it is already plural), and 'discussable opinion' instead of 'debatable point'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring you use the correct plural forms of nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include article misuse (e.g., 'access of pure water' instead of 'access to pure water'), subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'poor peoples who doesn't earn'), and missing articles (e.g., 'in African countries'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable. To progress, focus on mastering article usage and subject-verb agreement. Attempting more complex sentence structures while ensuring accuracy in basic grammar will help you achieve a higher band score.
