Student answer (Band 7.0)

Having the availability of fresh and clean water is a fundamental right of every human being. As a result, it's necessary that without any restrictions and cost every house should have access to it. I am completely agree with this thought as it is basic need for everyone and people cannot survive without this. Also, every household chores cannot be completed without it.

The first and the foremost reason behind giving the access to clean water is that nobody has created this, it is a natural resource and no one can take charge of providing it because it is a basic human right as well as need. To be more precise, human life revolves around water like people drink water, take bath with water, wash clothes and utensils etc. These are normal life chores which needed water to complete and individuals do these to survive on this planet. Hence, it is clear that it is mandatory to have water supply in every home to smoothly run their lives.

Secondly, taking money for providing water is a wrong practice as every person on this planet (Earth), deserves the right to use water because it is a natural resource. Making it's availability free of charge is the duty of the government of every nation. People should not suffer for drinking water because of poverty. In order keep themselves alive, they need to have it. For example, nowadays in almost every country, government take monthly bills for water supply but it is hard to pay for those people who are unemployed. As a result, natives suffer with many problems, which is not right.

To conclude, water is an important aspect of human's life and plays a crucial role in it. Surviving without it is not possible that is why it is considered as basic human right and it is not an artificial thing. So, no one should take money to provide water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for your argument, such as the natural origin of water and the economic burden on the unemployed. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the point about water being a 'natural resource' is mentioned in both the second and third paragraphs without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, try to explore the counter-argument (e.g., the cost of infrastructure and maintenance) and refute it, which would provide a more balanced and sophisticated discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'The first and the foremost reason', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. For example, the sentence 'Also, every household chores cannot be completed without it' in the introduction is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences within paragraphs are more tightly connected would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas clearly, such as 'fundamental right', 'natural resource', and 'unemployed'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'take charge of providing it' is slightly unnatural, and 'natives suffer with many problems' is imprecise. Additionally, there are minor errors like 'every household chores' (should be 'all household chores') and 'making it's availability' (should be 'its'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you are using the correct forms of words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I am completely agree' (should be 'I completely agree'), 'these are normal life chores which needed water' (should be 'which need water'), and 'government take monthly bills' (should be 'governments take' or 'the government takes'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency throughout your writing.
