Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that young people should be required to do unpaid community service in their free time. Do you agree or disagree?
It is widely believed that adolescents ought to help the society without receiving financial rewards. I strongly in the favor of this statement because such activities assist young people to gain essential experience before starting work and preparing them to contribute in the community.
To begin with, teen age is the age when teenagers can develop their imperative skills, which could help them enlighten their cognitive knowledge related to their carrier by exchanging ideas and cultivating their personal attributes. This makes them confident and brilliant to solve any problem promptly. For instance, students who volunteer to hospitals, charities and foodbanks often gain practical experience, which strengthens both their personal and professional growth. As a result, community services play a vital role in young people's life in order to prepare them for their future.
Another reason why I support this view is that voluntary work help youngsters to realize their responsibilities towards the society. In other words, when young individuals contribute their efforts to society while doing cleaning, serving food and providing clothes to needy, this is not only helps them to obtain inner peace but also serving the society regardless of taking any financial assistant. For instance, most many neighbors were glad while receiving free service from students through campaign, which was organized by University of Toronto in 2022. Therefore, unpaid work helps adolescents as well as the society.
In conclusion, introducing unpaid services are boon for adolescents because these are not only assist to gain practical experience for improving their personal and professional skills but also highly beneficial for their mental peace and the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about free water supply as a human right, but you have written an essay about young people doing unpaid community service. Because you have failed to address the task prompt entirely, this criterion is severely impacted. While you have developed a position and provided supporting ideas, they are irrelevant to the actual question asked. To improve, you must carefully read the prompt before beginning to ensure your ideas directly answer the specific question provided. In an actual exam, this would result in a very low score for Task Achievement as the content does not respond to the instructions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion' to structure your arguments. However, the progression of ideas is undermined by the fact that the content is irrelevant to the prompt. Within the paragraphs, the sentences are linked reasonably well, although some transitions are slightly mechanical. To improve, focus on ensuring that your topic sentences clearly relate to the prompt and that your supporting examples are directly relevant to the central argument you are making.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to express your ideas, such as 'imperative skills', 'cognitive knowledge', and 'cultivating personal attributes'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'enlighten their cognitive knowledge' (which is not a standard collocation) and 'carrier' instead of 'career'. You also have some awkward phrasing like 'regardless of taking any financial assistant'. While the vocabulary is generally adequate for the level, it is not sophisticated enough to compensate for the lack of relevance to the task. Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring precise word usage will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I strongly in the favor of this statement' (missing verb), 'teen age is the age' (awkward phrasing), and 'voluntary work help youngsters' (subject-verb agreement error). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositions, such as 'volunteer to hospitals' instead of 'volunteer at'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures will be beneficial.
