Student answer (Band 6.5)
Access to clean water is the right of every individual. Thus, each and every house should have a water supply that is given to them without any charge. I strongly agree with this view because clean water helps body to stay away from various diseases such as fevers, coughs, colds, etc. It is also beneficial for people living in slum areas.
Firstly, pure water maintains a healthy life. Nowadays, a large number of diseases have come out that are not 100 percent curable, such as cancer. Pure water does not contain any bacteria and is used for drinking purposes. Secondly, dirty water contains a large proportion of germs. When an individual uses this for washing clothes or utensils, those germs stay on that particular thing, and when they reuse it, germs enter the body of the individual, causing various diseases.
After that, providing clean water is beneficial to poor people. There has been a large number of slum areas where individuals can't afford to buy pure water; giving clean water supply to them helps them to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, clean water is used for cooking purposes. Every human being requires food as a basic need. If the food is prepared with the dirty water, then it might cause food poisoning. To get rid of this they have to use pure water.
In conclusion, though dirty water is used for some purposes, pure water is required in everyday life. Clean water has benefits such as a healthy lifestyle and getting rid of various diseases. It also helps to prepare healthy food. Clean water is a basic need for human beings, and it should be provided to every home through water supply.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for your agreement, such as health benefits and the necessity for low-income populations. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'slum areas' is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of the economic or logistical implications of 'free' water. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the consequences of your proposed policy, rather than repeating the general idea that clean water is healthy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words. For example, the phrase 'After that' is an awkward way to introduce a new paragraph. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'those') is always precise will help improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'individuals', 'beneficial', and 'lifestyle'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'large number of' and 'various diseases' are used frequently. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to public policy or sanitation. For example, instead of 'dirty water', you could use 'contaminated water' or 'polluted water sources'. The word choice is generally clear, and communication is not impeded by your lexical choices.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'helps body to stay' (should be 'helps the body stay') and 'There has been a large number of slum areas' (should be 'There are a large number of slum areas'). Additionally, some articles are missing or misused. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to enhance your accuracy.
