IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that clean water is an important need for everyone and should be supplied to households free of cost. I strongly agree with this statement because this is a key to survive and providing it free of charges can protect vulnerable people and improve public health.

To commence with, suppling clean water should be free because it is essential for human survival. People cannot live without water and charging for basic water needs can affect poor families. For example, low income households may struggle to pay water bills and may reduce their water usage.

Moreover, free water supply can improve public health. Everyone having access to clean water reduces diseases caused by unsafe water. To examplify, developing countries can reduce illness by providing safe drinking water to all citizens

To conclude, this is important thing to supply clean water to the city that will be great help for families who can not afford cost to pay for water.
