Student answer (Band 7.0)
Access to clean water is widely believed that it should be financially and ethically obligated by the government to provide basic life supplies for maintaining human lives and human rights.
In my opinion, I completely agree with this view because clean water shouldn’t be a burden for people’s households and for people who live with poverty, they wouldn’t be able to afford this basic life necessity and couldn’t stabilize their health.
First and foremost, clean water is absolutely indispensable for sustaining bodily function. Without it, individuals would be unable to survive and keep themselves healthy. For instance, people usually need water to prepare their meals and they usually need to consume clean water up to 2 liter per day for sustaining their well-being. Therefore, clean water should be provided by the state and not be financial burden on individuals across the country. Furthermore, individuals living in poverty are particularly vulnerable to water insecurity. Without free access to clean water, low-income households may be forced to consume contaminated water, leading to severe infections and waterborne diseases, for instance, such as diarrhea, giardiasis and other severe illnesses caused by pathogenic living organisms. Therefore, governments should treat clean water as public welfare services rather than social burdensome.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that clean water should be freely provided because clean water is essential for sustaining people’s life and some households with low-income are lack of clean water for consuming leading to risky severe diseases. Government must therefore treat water as a public welfare services to ensure equal access to all of the citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and address the prompt directly. You provide logical support for your argument, such as the necessity of water for bodily functions and the health risks associated with contaminated water for low-income households. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully developed; for instance, you could briefly address the counter-argument (e.g., the economic feasibility for governments) to provide a more balanced and sophisticated discussion. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and sentence flow, such as in the opening sentence which is grammatically fragmented. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is always smooth and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'indispensable', 'vulnerable', 'water insecurity', and 'pathogenic'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'social burdensome' (should be 'a social burden') and 'are lack of' (should be 'lack'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. For example, the first sentence is a run-on with awkward phrasing ('Access to clean water is widely believed that it should be...'). Other errors include '2 liter' (should be '2 liters') and 'are lack of'. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will help improve your score.
