Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is a basic necessity for every human being to have access to clean water. I completely agree that every household should be provided with free of cost water supply because it should be the responsibility of the government and a large proportion of population is still unable to afford water filters or other clean sources.
The Governments of all the countries in the world should be able to provide free of cost clean water because along with other basic facilities such as education, health care, and clean environment; clean water should also be accessible to everyone. As polluted water can cause severe diseases, which can put a strain on the budget of health care sector. Providing a clean water supply to all the households would prevent this extra cost on the health care system in the long run. For example, the tap water in most of the countries contains chlorine, which is easily absorbed by our skin and can cause skin and digestion related problems. Hence, the government should allocate budget for clean water supplies to avoid further cost in the future.
Many people in developing countries are still unable to afford water filters or the filtered water in bottles. This is because a large proportion of the population is still struggling to meet the basic needs of their families and they consider water filters as luxurious equipments. As a result, they avoid spending money on such things and drink water from the taps. For instance, in Australia, the cost of living is extremely high, making it difficult for the individuals there to have access to clean water and left them with the only option of drinking water from taps.
To conclude, I completely in agreement with the view that there should be a zero cost for pure water supply as the government should be able to provide pure water to everyone to give everyone the equal access to a basic necessity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, particularly the link between public health and water costs. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the example regarding Australia is slightly confusing, as it is generally considered a developed nation with high-quality tap water, which contradicts your point about people struggling to afford clean water. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are logically consistent with your argument. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the prompt and provided a clear, consistent argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'Hence', 'As a result', and 'For instance' to connect your ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing. For example, in the final paragraph, the phrase 'I completely in agreement' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring they are used with greater precision would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'health care sector', 'allocate budget', and 'basic necessity'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'luxurious equipments' (equipment is uncountable) and 'zero cost for pure water supply' (which is slightly awkward phrasing). To improve, focus on using collocations more naturally and ensure you are using uncountable nouns correctly. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated or academic synonyms would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I completely in agreement' (missing verb 'am') and 'left them with the only option' (should be 'leaving them'). Additionally, there are some issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic verb forms and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
