Student answer (Band 7.0)

Access to fresh water is a basic human right. Some people argue that every house or apartment should have a supply of water for free without any charges. I agree with this view because access to clean water is a basic amenity, while some people face difficulties purchasing and accessing fresh water, which prevents them from contracting dangerous diseases,, and also it benefits society.

Firstly, freshwater content is very limited on the Earth's surface, whereas some people really can't afford to buy this basic need as well. In addition, without clean water some household chores such as cleaning, cooking will be on hold. Moreover, doing these chores by other sources of water will promote more diseases in the human body. The distribution of water should be accessible for everyone without any discrimination. For example, low-income families might not be able to pay water bills, and these kinds of families may use uncleaned water for their household chores, which directly leads to cause many dangerous diseases. Hence, every house should be accessible to water for free of charge.

Secondly, nowadays various kinds of diseases are spreading rapidly due to pollution and other radical issues. Furthermore, consumption of fresh water may prevent these diseases. In addition, government should spend more fundings to provide water for everyone equally, while they should carefully conserve the water because they are very limited. Also, governments spend less on treating waterborne diseases. Access to free water improves quality of life and supports children's education because families spend less time collecting water. Therefore, acquiring to freshwater benefits society.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that every home should receive clean and fresh water free of charge. Since water is essential for human survival, governments should ensure that everyone gas equal access to this basic necessity, regardless of their financial situation

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the link between water access, public health, and economic stability. However, some points are slightly under-developed. For instance, while you mention that free water supports children's education, you do not fully explain the causal link between the two. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point is fully expanded with a clear explanation or a more detailed example. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'these kinds of families' which is slightly imprecise. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, try to vary your cohesive devices and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother rather than relying on a list-like structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'basic amenity', 'financial situation', and 'waterborne diseases'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'freshwater content' (which is not the standard collocation for water availability) and 'acquiring to freshwater' (which is grammatically incorrect). Additionally, 'uncleaned water' should be 'contaminated' or 'unsafe' water. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on learning collocations to sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'government should spend more fundings' (funding is uncountable), 'leads to cause' (redundant), and 'everyone gas equal access' (typo). Punctuation is generally functional, though there is a double comma error in the first paragraph. While you attempt complex sentences, the accuracy is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as well as proofreading for minor slips that detract from the overall quality of your writing.
