Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is the most basic facility for each and every household to have free supply of water as water is considered the medium of life needed by all living entities. I totally agree this statement because ground necessities of a home will only be fulfilled with ease if it has a supply of water and secondly this source should be free to make it affordable for every living being.
The first and foremost reason for this argument is that every human activity such as washing, bathing, and cooking requires water. It would be very challenging to perform majority of home chores without the supply of water, as evidenced by the northern areas of Pakistan, where sources of clean water are not available in every house and they are required to fetch water far away. Similarly, water serves as a primary component of our metabolism, so every person should drink 3 to 4 liters of water daily to maintain their body's natural conditions which is only possible if there is a plenty of water available.
This water supply should be free of charge because majority of residents of any nation could not afford water bills. For example Pakistanis are already living hand to mouth after paying electricity, grocery, gas and many other bills, if they will be forced to pay water bills, their life would become more miserable.
Encapsulating the debate, I would like to put forward that it is the basic right of every human to have access to a free clean water reservoir at home in order to facilitate himself and governments should take appropriate actions to ensure the availability of clean water either by pipelines or by storing the natural rain water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding the necessity of water for daily chores and the economic burden of water bills are relevant and supported by examples from Pakistan. However, the development is somewhat limited; while the points are clear, they could be expanded with more nuanced discussion on the economic feasibility for governments or the potential environmental impact of free water. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and provides a clear final stance. Overall, the task is addressed well, though it lacks the depth required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'Similarly', and 'Encapsulating the debate', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are a bit repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, contributing to an overall coherent structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using less common vocabulary, such as 'metabolism', 'reservoir', and 'encapsulating'. However, there are instances of slightly awkward phrasing, such as 'ground necessities' instead of 'basic necessities' and 'living hand to mouth' which is an idiom that fits the context but is used in a slightly informal way. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precision and variety in word choice would be needed to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I totally agree this statement' (missing a preposition), 'majority of residents' (missing an article), and 'if they will be forced' (incorrect conditional structure). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The writer shows an ability to use complex sentences, but the control over these structures is inconsistent, leading to occasional errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable.
