Student answer (Band 5.5)
In modern times, the issue of clean water has become highly controversial. There are those who said that therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. However, other people's assert that its not be done. From my perspective, I largely agree that every homes should have a water supply that is provided free of charge and this essay will explain why.
The primary reason for my agreement is that people stay safe and healthier, because when people drink clean water they always healthy. Furthermore, if people drink dirty water they get many problem such as Diarrhea, Dysentery, Cholera, and Hepatitis.
Another compelling argument is that the government should supply hygienic water to all homes. Because of this individuals support the government. Moreover, when the government provide clean water children stay safe and they can better study than before. Children always healthy and they can present at school and college. On the other hand, young people can go to the jobs and they can earn money. Because of which, they can fulfill all their desires.
In conclusion, I partly agree that access to clean water is a basic human right. While every household should receive a basic amount of water free of charge, additional usage should be paid for to promote responsible consumption and maintain a sustainable water supply.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments provided are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about health is mentioned but not expanded upon with specific examples or logical reasoning. Furthermore, the conclusion introduces a new, contradictory perspective ('I partly agree... additional usage should be paid for') that was not explored in the body paragraphs, leading to a lack of consistency in your argument. To improve, ensure you fully develop each point with clear explanations and examples, and maintain a consistent stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Because of this' and 'Because of which' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of your ideas. The transition between the body paragraphs and the conclusion is also abrupt, as the conclusion introduces a new nuance that was not previously discussed. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one, rather than simply listing points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'stay safe', 'healthy', and 'people'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'other people's assert' (should be 'others assert') and 'can present at school' (should be 'can attend school'). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited and does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. Try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to public policy, economics, or health to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('every homes should', 'government provide'), incorrect verb forms ('its not be done'), and awkward sentence structures ('There are those who said that therefore...'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses will also help improve your accuracy significantly.
