Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this contemporary era, water is a basic need for the survival of living beings. In many of the houses, the water supply is provided in most homes. However, in some houses, water is not supplied in homes. I completely agree with the statement that water is necessary for humans and has to provide directli in homes.
With the advancement in the technology field, water is provided in most homes. Moreover, it is the right of people to have fresh and drinkable water for themselves. As everyone is familiar with the fact that without water, survival is impossible, even for 5 minutes, thirst is inevitable. government should provide a water supply at every home for free of charge, as it is a compulsory need for humans. A survey conducted by a prestigious newspaper, The Hindustan Times, reports that in drought regions or in rural areas, numerous deaths were filed owning of lack of water because they have not have a supply of water.
Furthermore, in backwards areas, people cover far distances to collect water in jars. For example, in areas like Rajasthan, where no water supply is provided in all homes, many women fill water from a well or have to buy water from the companies.
On the contrary, some people believe that water should not be provided for free, as the public uses water carelessly. Moreover, the amount of drinking water is very limited on Earth and is one of the non-renewable resources. In some cases, it has been seen that people waste water in hefty amounts, which is intolerable.
Different people have different notions regarding the statement, but I have sound reasons to advocate that the supply of water should be provided, but with stringent rules on the extra use of water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified the core issue—water as a human right—and provided relevant arguments regarding accessibility and the counter-argument of wastage. However, some ideas are under-developed. For instance, the claim that survival is impossible for '5 minutes' is an exaggeration that weakens the academic tone. While you mention the government's role and the impact on rural areas, the development of the counter-argument regarding 'stringent rules' is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more precise and that your arguments are fully explored rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On the contrary', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences can be slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'In some cases, it has been seen', which lacks a specific subject. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era', 'inevitable', and 'stringent'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'has to provide directli in homes' (should be 'should be provided directly') and 'backwards areas' (should be 'remote' or 'underdeveloped areas'). You also use 'hefty amounts' to describe water wastage, which is not the most natural collocation in this context. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and double-check your spelling, particularly with adverbs like 'directly'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'in many of the houses, the water supply is provided in most homes' (redundant phrasing), 'they have not have a supply' (incorrect verb tense), and 'fill water from a well' (should be 'collect water'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with sentence construction. To achieve a higher score, focus on subject-verb agreement and reducing repetitive sentence patterns by incorporating more varied complex structures.
