Student answer (Band 6.5)

Using clean water is the fundamental right of society at large. So, it is obvious that every single individual require clean and fresh water without any payment. I do agree with the statement and strongly support the demand of society for clean water without any fee.

The first and primary reason for supplying clean and fresh water is that drinking clean water is the basic necessity of a human being amongst basic needs of food, shelter and cloth. Every person must have access for tariff free clean water along with basic food ingredients. 60% of our body is made of water and any person can survive without food to some extent but in the absence of clean water, survival will be next to impossible. No other drink or juice can be serve as substitute of water in long term due to their negative impacts on body and nervous system.

The other strong reason for demanding free supply of clean water is related to multiple uses of water and side effects of using dirty water. We need water not only for drinking purpose but also various other reasons such as cooking, toileting, bathing and washing. if dirty or stale water will be used for all these activities then there could be very dangerous side effects on our body and brain.

Considering all the above points in mind, the government of every country is bound to provide clean water to every individual in return of their sweat paid tax and resident of country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating an agreement with the provision of free water. The ideas are relevant, focusing on biological necessity and public health. However, the development is somewhat limited. While the first body paragraph discusses the biological need for water, the second paragraph touches on hygiene but lacks depth in explaining the economic or logistical implications of 'free' water, which would have strengthened the argument. The conclusion is brief and slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments, perhaps by discussing the role of government taxation or the societal benefits of universal access more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a progression of ideas from the fundamental right to water to the practical health implications. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'The first and primary reason', 'The other strong reason'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing could be more sophisticated. For instance, the final sentence of the second paragraph is a bit disjointed from the rest of the argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their position clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'fundamental right' and 'tariff free', which are appropriate. However, there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'sweat paid tax' (likely meaning 'hard-earned tax') and 'serve as substitute' (should be 'serve as a substitute'). The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding literal translations will improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'every single individual require' (subject-verb agreement), 'cloth' (should be 'clothing'), and 'if dirty or stale water will be used' (incorrect conditional structure). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, you should focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and refining conditional sentence structures. Increasing the variety of complex sentence forms while maintaining accuracy will also help elevate your score.
