Student answer (Band 6.0)

The right of getting fresh water is the fundamental due to which the free of cost water connection to every house hold is necessary. I totally agree with this , each person has the born right to drink fresh water.

There are about 7 billion people in the world and every person has the right to drink fresh water. Fresh water is the basic necessity of life not for only humans. The animals also need water for their survival. If the fresh water is not available the life of humanity would be in danger, because when the water is not fresh it brings too many diseases which harms the body. Due these diseases the human life is stake. For instance a person drinks dirty water due to this water he gets many illnesses.

The right of using and drinking fresh water is most important for the life. Everything needs fresh water to grow regardless of human, animals and food. If there is shortage is fresh water it brings too many problems like shortage of food due to which the life is to hard to live and there are cases like this in our world. For instance some countries on African continent. The life on these countries is too hard they don't get food for weeks.

The supply of fresh water is as important for life as the fresh air. The free water supply plays a key role in the life of people of each country for their growth and prosperity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention the importance of water for health and agriculture, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. For instance, the mention of African countries is vague and does not effectively support the economic or logistical feasibility of providing free water. To improve, you should explore the counter-arguments or the practical implications of such a policy to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion. The ideas remain somewhat superficial throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You rely on basic transitions like 'For instance' and 'Due to', which are used repetitively. Some sentences lack logical connection, such as the transition between the importance of water for animals and the impact of dirty water on human health. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when you use 'cases like this' without explicitly defining what the 'case' refers to. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'fresh water', 'dirty water', and 'hard to live' repeatedly. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'the right of getting fresh water' instead of 'the right to access clean water' or 'human life is stake' instead of 'at stake'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and synonyms would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include article usage ('the life of humanity', 'the fresh water'), preposition errors ('life on these countries'), and awkward phrasing ('the right of getting fresh water is the fundamental due to which'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and refining your sentence construction to ensure greater accuracy in complex structures.
