Student answer (Band 6.0)

Every individual should have right to purified water, in the sense that the availability of water should be a necessity in every habitat without any charge, this is due to the fact that water is very important in our daily existence and it's usefulness can be drawn from it been used to cook our daily food and also for drinking to quench our thirst.

Every home uses water to prepare its meal and as we all know food is very good for humans, without food, there will be no life and existence because adequate meal is a medication to the us as our bodies thrive on it to get more strength to fight diseases and equally energizes us to carry out our daily activities. For example, on 21st July 2026, that was on a Monday, I did a fasting and prayer, though I was in prayer session but I was feeling so weak to the extent my vision was blurred, I couldn't lift my feet to walk, I managed to carry on till the end of the fasting before I rushed to a restaurant eat and that was when I regained my consciousness and strength to proceed with the other activities for the day. Additionally water is very important for drinking as without water, our throats will get dried which will result to extreme thirst and fatigue.

In Conclusion, I concur to the fact that water should be made available in every house because it can be put to different uses both preparing our meals, washing our cloths and dishes and cleaning the house as well as it is required daily for drinking.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt but lacks the depth required for a higher band. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are repetitive and focus heavily on the biological necessity of water rather than the economic or social implications of providing it free of charge. The personal anecdote about fasting is irrelevant to the core debate and does not support the argument regarding universal water rights or economic policy. To improve, you should explore counter-arguments or broader societal impacts, such as the sustainability of free resources or the role of government versus private utility providers.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into three paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraph is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. For instance, the phrase 'this is due to the fact that' is used to connect ideas that are already somewhat circular. The conclusion is very brief and does not effectively summarise the main points or provide a final thought. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, distinct focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. You rely on basic terms like 'very important' and 'very good', which are repetitive. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'it's usefulness' (should be 'its') and 'cloths' (should be 'clothes'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'infrastructure', 'subsidised', 'socio-economic', or 'essential commodity', and ensure you are using these terms in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Issues include run-on sentences, such as the first sentence of the introduction, and incorrect punctuation. There are also errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the us' instead of 'us'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on sentence boundaries and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will help you achieve a higher band.
